So after 5 years of trying my wife is finally going to go to an SCA event.

The only problem is that she doesn't have any clothes.

Here is where you can help. If you have some old garb that you are not needing anymore and would like to get a couple of bucks for shoot me a PM or an email with pics and I may be able to take them off your hands for you.

Here is the info she would let me post she is about 5'10" .

Here is the info that she wouldn't give me but I know anyway. She just had a baby on the 24th so she is still not back to her pre-baby size. She wore XL maternity clothes (she won't tell me what she wears now and I am not in town to go and check).

I have enough stitching skills to be able to take in something if it is too large and I can hem things if they are too long. I am still working on fabric stretching but that isn't going so well for me .

She would really like something around the mid 14th century and as she puts it "pretty" clothes but she is willing to wear anything as long as is easy (she is worried about chasing after the kids in a big dress with a bum roll) and won't make her stand out too much.

As this is something new and I am not sure that she will be sticking with it neither of us wants to spend a fortune on clothes.

So again if anyone has anything please let me know.

when do you need the garb?
my wife has done a bit and I think does a quite a good job of sewing.

The event in question is the weekend of August 29-31. I will be back at home on the 16th of August.

If I will need to do altering I will need it early so I will have time to work on it. But priority mail is not required because I'm not going to be home for another month.

If your you are talking about your wife making her clothes then I will work on getting good measurements. However I will need to either PM them to you ro email them cause I don't want to upset my wife (she is sensitive about those kinds of things) and her measurements on the internet would probably do it.

My wife probably has some spare stuff laying around but she's eight inches shorter.

On the fabrication side, get some measurements and you never know, I might talk her into making something. She did very well for HER first major event (Crown Tourney in Drachenwald) with 3 multi-layered outfits for herself from the early 15th century I think. She whipped up a couple wool and linen tunics and undertunics for me in about 2 hours. Total cost, under $50. Being married to a garbmaker can be nice!

There's a style known as an "Italian coat-dress" that is amazingly forgiving in terms of fit (it's not "one size fits all" but more like one size fits 0-8, another fits 8-16, and so on). It is also particularly flattering on a taller lady.
