I was wondering what size aventail I could use to make a aventail for my new kettle from Halberds. I was wondering if the small SS aventail would work?..here is a pic...by the way the helmet is too cool...soon as it is strapped and and the gorget issue is settled I will take some pics..Hal you the man!!!

Based on the descriptions on Knutt's site... or what I remember them to be, no.
I suspect you would be much happier with the long for this given project.
What I recall is that the shorts were just the 'bell' that drapes over the shoulders. Where as the longs were the bell plus a tube to go up around the helmet.
I've never handles either size, so I don't know for sure, but this is very much the impression that I get looking at Knutt's site, as well as the stuff that other people put them on.
It looked better in my head....
Damnit.
Damnit.

Sorry, missed the question of size. The longs are the ones we use for this kind of project, the shorts are more for hanging lower on the helmet.

Please post pics when you're done, too. I love this style of helmet. Always wondered how to pad one properly.
