I have one of my SCA legal pollaxes finished. It's made from stacked, glued, and sewn leather with foam on the striking surfaces.

$45 shipped in the US or to an APO. As always, I take PayPal at m_kreitzer@yahoo.com

Thanks!

Why do SCA weapons need to be covered with duct tape instead of, say leather?

In this particular case it's to cover the ugly-ass foam I have to glue to the striking surfaces. :x

But can you say, put more leather over the foam? Even paint it? Cover a baton with leather rather than duct tape?

Yes to all of these questions.

The obvious follow-up question is "then why don't people?" I think the answer lies in the amount of work you put into a nice looking baton will be about the same amount of time, or maybe even more time, than the rattan core will last...

What size stick will it slide over? I know it needs taping to the shaft but I'm looking to find out what size fits the tightest without causing the head harm..

I make them to be snug on a 1 1/4 inch shaft, but I can do some work with a rasp to widen it out a bit.

I sure can- and all thowse things will add to the cost. In the future I plan to experiment with herculiner (sp?) as a coating, but for now any other coverings would be special-order.

Review time...well sort of.

Transaction was quick and painless. Paypal is your friend.
Michael was delayed due to pressing matters in mailing but PM'd me explaining and instead of friday mailing it went out Saturday or Monday (Like I really cared bout that short of a delay...pfffft)

Poleaxe arrived packed and looking just like the pic after attacking the packaging with a pair of scissors.

I'll have a review on thump factor after I adapt a stave of my rattan to fit it...

All in all 5 outta 5...
