Looking for raw or maybe carded wool

I've done a bit of searching online, and have found a good number of places that sell raw and carded wool, but thought I'd ask around here first.

I'm wanting to felt the wool and make a Christmas tree skirt of maybe an 1/8" in thickness, so I would need enough for that with maybe a little bit to spare for making some felt applique's to go on it.

I'm not sure I want to buy any just yet, as I'm not totally sure I will have time to get this done before Christmas, but let me know what you've got. I would kind of like to get carded wool as time is an issue, but then again I don't want to spend a fortune on something that isn't really necessary.

Anyhow, if you've got some - carded or raw - let me know what you've got and how much you want for it.

Thanks,
Cat

I have some raw wool that we have run through the picker to fluff up& through the drum carder to make batting, however there are cheet grass seeds in it that may pulled out by hand(if desired) we have quite a bit in a barrel, so we would just need to pick& card more. any idea how much you would want?(if any)

Well, I'm not really sure. I just made my first small test bacth of felt the other day, so I don't really have a good grasp on how much I would need. Since I want to make a tree skirt, do you think I could get an accurate idea from weighing the one I have to try to get an idea of how much I need? I think mine is of similar thickness.

If I had to guess, I would say maybe a couple of pounds, but again I'm not really sure. How much would you want for it per pound?

Thanks!

Honestly, I would have NO idea what it's worth. I've seen all different kinds of pricing on the net, with different breeds and such, and I have no idea what it all means. I've got a quad-skin sheepskin here that I used to make a few pairs of slippers, and just used the clippings from that to make some felt. I have no idea what breed it is, and I don't have any idea what "quality" it is. So far, this is the only experience I've had with raw wool, so I wouldn't be able to tell anything about the wool you send.

If you've got an idea of it's value, go ahead and shout it out, 'cause I ain't gots a clue. :)

As far as quantity goes, I will see if I can figure something out. I don't really know what to do to come up with an accurate figure, but I will see if I can make some sort of a guess.

Thanks!

I'm generally interested as well... but it's got to be clean wool -- not seed-infested, b/c that stuff scratches like hell.

Well, I did some figuring, and it looks like I will need about 4 pounds. I thought I was only going to need one or two, so I'm not sure I want to do this.

Anyway, let me know how much you want per pound and I will see if I can swing it. This is purely an extra, unneccessary thing and I don't know if I want to spend the money since we still need to finish up Christmas shopping.

Thanks!

Ps. I don't think the seeds will be a problem for me, since this will be a tree skirt.
