Hey Stefhan, got any katz pommels and guards in stock?
Posted: Fri Mar 13, 2009 11:03 pm
by Stefhan
I have twisted and plane katz hilts on hand. The pommels I have to make. If you need one or two I can have them this weekend or the next at the latest.
The only delay that can come up is that it is fire season here and I tend to drop out of sight with work with no warning......lol
So drop me a line at my Gmail address and we can go over the details!
Thanks

For any curious, just put up a quick and dirty review of a custom hilt Stefhan made up for me. Good stuff and almost makes me want to go slash and puff!

Leopold,
Thanks!
Iain,
Thanks for the photos. The hilt looks good in that sheath. How is it working for you fighintg with the finger over the hilt in finger gantlets?

One more brief review of Stefhan and his work: I ordered a katz hilt and pommel which were just fantastic. Stefhan himself was very good about communication and the pictures he has posted of the products don't do the actual pieces justice; they are even better in the hand.

Doing quite nicely if I do say so. Good feel of control and no 'crunchies' on my finger. Still haven't mounted the 'demi-basket' hilt though. Must sit down and do so to get you some feedback on it.

laevus,
Thanks for the review and I am glad you like the hilt/pommel.
Iain,
I am glad the hilt worked for you. I have always liked the feel of finger over hilt my self but never having finger gant's I have setteld for leather trigers or metal loops in a baskit.
I would like the feed back on the more complex hilt. I realy liked the look. I just hope there is room for you finger and gantlet past the gard to hold it properly.
Thanks

Stefhan,
I am in need of a sidearm to further my 16th century kit. Are these for a single handed sword or a two handed job?

Baron Alejandro,
The top hilt in the 1st photo is made with with that in mind. I have made other hilts that are for late perid. They were costume items. Here are two examples. Let me know if you like them. I can reproducethem or like them.
Thanks

Those are awesome, and gorgeous. But I'll be using mitten gauntlet's with these, so no finger loop! Got anything for that?

Stefhan, have you considered doing any early nordic period hilts or pommels? Any alternatives to what is currently available is always a good thing, especially if they are affordable.

Baron Alejandro,
Well the hilt in the top photo you posted of mine will work for that. Unless you have an idea you would like. Let me know.
Tyr,
Not at this time but at some point. Give me and idea of what you might look for in that type of hilt you cant get now.
Thanks
Stefhan
