Who does knife work

Post by Murcadh »

Few years ago I started with a chunk of 1" cable and forged two knife blanks (scramsaxes) but since have moved away from my friend the blacksmith. I do not have the tools to finish the job nor the knolwedge to bring out the wire patterns (or time; lots of projects)

I was wondering if there was anyone out there who has the equipment, time and inclination to finish my project. :?

Are you looking to have these finished for you or are you selling them blanks?

First would be to have them finished. (paid of course) If no takers on finishing my project, then let someone else finish them for their use (just send me pics).

I might be interested in finishing a blank. My shop does not have forging capability, but I have knife-hilting ability and would be interested in seeing if either of the blanks told me what kind of hilt it wanted. I also have access to a period blacksmith who might want to finish the other one. PM me if that's interesting to you.

I believe polarbearforge is primarily a knife maker.

Yep, I mainly make knives. I have the ability to forge, heat treat and finish knives from steel cable. (I use cable myself from time to time.) Drop me a PM or email and we can see what can be done.

How much you payin?

I have this thing where I think the wrong things are funny.
It looked better in my head....

Too bad you're not down here in TX. Tomorrow, all day, I'm hosting a patternwelding workshop. We'll be making a half dozen cable damascus billets and maybe some low layer count twists.

What size seaxes were you wanting to make out of those? To get the best pattern out of the cable, all you really need is someone to hammer it into a flat bar for you. You can file/grind the rest, then get someone to heat treat it for you.

PMs sent

Thanks for the replies. Both knife blanks are shaped and one just needs the final finish work (I believe).
