it's always better with pictures
Whenever the legislators endeavor to take away and destroy the property of the people, or to reduce them to slavery under arbitrary power, they put themselves into a state of war with the people, who are thereupon absolved from any further obedience

Very pretty, my only critique is the eye slot, not sure how big it is but at first glance it seems small.
Nice though!

Sha-ul..........thank you for posting a couple of pics for me. I have never quite figured out how to add them to the postings. Do you have to enter some html code or something?
Halberds, Magnus, and Pavla........Thank you for the compliments. In regards to the eye slots.........they are set at alittle bit over 3/4". Which by most peoples standards is alittle narrow but due to the angle of the occular the helm actually has surprisingly great vision. I have personally just never really cared as much for an occular that has a bar running through it so on this one I just closed it up to meet SCA specs without having a bar crossing the wearer's vision. Having said that however, my next one might just have a much larger opening in the occular with a bar, as I do understand that not everyone has to all like the same thing.

Bigjon.............actually, these particular bronzes I acquired a couple of years ago from Albion Swords. On that note, however, I need a few more pieces to fall into place and I should be doing my own custom bronze casting coming up here shortly.

Hail Jens!
Well........I will try to get a pic of the helmet on a head for you......only problem is if I pad it up for me then I might not want to let it go afterwards as I have been drooling over it myself...........oh well, maybe someday when I grow up I will have one like this.
Oh yea, FYI, another thing that I was going to comment about...........in regards to the narrowness of the eye slots.........the pic shown above of the front of the helm was taken from a low camera angle on the helm which really intensifies the effect that the eye slots are narrower than they really are.

Working under the assumption that it was built for SCA combat, it probably is smaller than some folks are used to.
I like it a lot, as it doesn't require any bar work across the goggles to detract and distract from the rest of it.
It looked better in my head....
Damnit.
Damnit.

Yes, your assumption is correct, the helm was built for SCA combat. You are also right in that most folks are not used to this style of helm with a smaller eye slot. But, as you pointed out, I just didn't want the bars across the eyes like alot of the helms w/occulars do. I, as you do, feel that bars across the occular detract from the overall look of the helm. It honestly has pretty good vision........due to the angle of the occular it doesn't really impair vision much at all. I personally fight in a closed face bellows visored sallet and this particular Valsgarde 6, while having a smaller eye slot, actually has better vision than my helm. At the worst, vision in this particular Valsgarde 6 would be no different than looking out of a closed face bascinet or sallet and we see these helms being used all the time on the field with no real complaints in regards to vision or functionality. Actually, the vision would be better than these types of closed face helms due to the lower grillwork which can also be seen through as opposed to a totally enclosed face.
Thank you for your compliments,
