Thought you might like a pic:

93" of 1/2" strap and buckles for spaulders and helm straps.
Plenty of the popular rivet sizes.

I can't show a pic of the mystery surprise bonus tool or it would not be a surprise, would it?
However a hint: Your spangen bands will thank you.

Warning! Warning! Warning! :!:

Shipping included in the Continental US

Alaska is part of the Continental US, not the Contiguous 48 states....

and I just might be able to get a few guys to go in on that set with me for a few projects we need to build.

You just might want to rethink and edit that that tag line before we commit to an order.

Cheers,

David

Yes as I said.

"Shipping included in the Continental US"

Holds true.

It's those guys down under and over there that will have to pay more.

Lets take a look at shipping to one of our members in Australia.

Mailing Service Summary
for a Package of 19 lbs 8 oz to Australia

Mailing Services Your Cost
Priority Mail® International Regular Flat-Rate Boxes (19 pounds 8 ounces) $41.95
Insurance (Insured for $230.00) $5.25
Total $47.20
Estimated delivery time to Australia is 6 - 10 Days

Now if we subtract the paid domestic shipping cost of $14.95 it would leave a remainder of $32.25... actual shipping to Australia.
Only thing is, I have to watch the weight of the Mystery Bonus Tool.
The package must weigh under 20 pounds to get this rate.

Shall we do Canada?

OK, for another example we will do Canada.

Mailing Service Summary
for a Package of 19 lbs 8 oz to Canada

Mailing Services Your Cost
Priority Mail® International Regular Flat-Rate Boxes (19 pounds 8 ounces) $25.95
Insurance (Insured for $230.00) $4.60
Total $30.55

Estimated delivery time to Canada is 6 - 10 Days

Subtracting the US domestic shipping rate of $14.95 leaves our friend of the north owing $15.60 in additional shipping fees.

Now that is not to bad is it?

Hello Hal,

I didn't mean to get your goat. It's just some folks only ship UPS/FED EX and are not smart enough to know that Alaska sits on the same Continent as the Contiguous 48 states.

I'll try to place an order with said folks that offer "free shipping to the Continental US" just to be told that there is a major add on fee for Alaska as it's not part of the Continental US. ( I guess we are off in the Pacific, just to the right of Hawaii like all the Middle school maps show) The fee can be 35 or more dollars.

Some folks wont even ship to Alaska as they don't ship outside of the "Continental US".

It's something I've had to put up with since moving here in 1981.

I'm glad you discovered the miracle of the USPS flat rate box. :D

Cheers,

David

They're spiff to be sure. But they're not a miracle until I can fit a helmet in one.

David,

No goat got,
New Mexico has the same problem.

I was from New Mexico and in the army, they would always ask where you were from.
I would say New Mexico and they would say, man the army sure is hard up to be drafting Mexicans, you don't look Mexican.

Mattmaus,

Yes it would be nice to have a big heavy duty flat fate box for helms, but that ain't gonna happen,

I get my helm boxes from wall-mart.
They have a couple good sizes, nice heavy duty boxes.
I also get some 2" wide nylon tape to secure things a little better.
Some bubble wrap and I'm good to go.

Thanks David et al.

I know the others want to see the mystery tool.
So I will show it.

Image

It is a simple pipe stake to hammer things over.
It has a 1" solid shank.
If it went overseas it would of had a square tubing shank. (due to weight)

Thanks again for your support.

That was a one shot deal, but I could be persuaded to do another.

Actually most of the items are my standard products.
I could duplicate that bonus pipe stake also.

I will have to check and see if I have any rivets left.

Hal

PS: David, how did your tools work out with you and the co-owners?

Hi Hal,

I stiffed the other guys... I went ahead and paid for the tools myself.(I'll just let people use them in my group)

I've been working on a project very part time for Christian Tobler and the tools made shaping the plates a snap!

My biggest problem is my company putting more & more demands on my time for work (50-60 hours a week), trying to lift weights 3 x a week & teaching 2 hr historic fencing classes 4x a week. I'm not getting anything else done in life right now... and seem tired all the time. :? I wonder why?

Cheers,

DT

Looks like I should start Monday making some basic tools for when you guys are ready.

I will work to have some of the basic kits on the shelf this week.

Thank you for getting me off my ass.
It has been cold and wet here long enough.
I need to get back out in the shop.
