Looking for a bow + gear
Looking for a bow + gear
Hello all, I'm Proxus' wife Fausta. I have been out of armored SCA combat for a couple years but am looking to get back in, and I just authorized target archery. I am looking for recurve bows, cheap! Something to learn on and abuse. I was reccomended one site, white wolf/argent lupus, but I wanted other suggestions to look around at, if anyone has one. I am looking for a max 30lb~28 inch bow, probably fiberglass at the price range I am looking for. Also looking for arrows for target archery, though combat archery arrow suggestions would be good too. I have to re-take my combat authorization tests before I auth in combat archery though.

Tommy Clontz makes a laminated (cherry/hickory?) longbow for about $60.00 that preforms as well as a basic fiberglass bow but looks and feels better. He can make it in about any poundage that you wan to get started in.
He does not do e-mail but his phone and address are:
(256)442-5779
1095 Lumbley Rd.
Rainbow City, AL 35906
He has been very good to deal with and I recommend talking over options with him in case he has something else that might interest you too.
Arrows are a little harder these days. Your best option is to see if a local in the SCA makes arrows otherwise try: http://www.fsdiscountarchery.com/select ... rrows.aspx I seem to recall that you will need to order heads too.

depending on the amount of abuse check the local yard sales flee markets and such.
Ebay always has them but shipping will be a bit not to mention the condition of the bow in unknown untill it actualy shows up.
CA arrows and bolts are cheaper if you can get in on a local /kingdome Group order depending on the local population there may be intrest in putting one together its always cheaper to order parts and do the assembly your self but the more people you have working the quicker it goes.
There was some rule change last year effecting socity regs after pennsic so check the rules about updateing any old gear.
