Early Period Garb

Post by OlrunLoki »

Well I have been slaving over this puter with the master web man Jestyr and I finally have Lokis Locker up and running. Take a look at it and let me know what you think.
FYI: I am discounting the first twenty inquiries I get from the about pricing list. I am also willing to work out payment arrangements. I will have lots more pics up in the next few weeks, and will be adding more items such as winningas and pouches and such.
Hopefully my new loom will be in around Pennsic and handmade fabric will be added as well.

I will vouch for Olrun's work. It is absolutely beautiful. My only complaint is that Greenshield has too much of it!

I'll add a nice tunic combo from your shop to the list of awesome things I would love to own if I ever win the lottery.

Not all of it costs what it says on the website. Those are just approximates based on what approximate times are. Besides to get this thing off of the ground I am giving killer deals to the first 20 who inquire about them. Not only that, but most of those prices are for moderate to heavy embroidery. Light embroidery would definitely cost less. Contact me and give me an idea of what you would like and I will see what I can do. I am negotiable.

From a business standpoint, I would modify the website to reflect light to moderate embroidery, and then have the quote available for people who want more. Always better to have the "base version" listed, and have the "deluxe" price in reserve, as the people who will want that and can afford it will have a decent idea of what they are willing to pay already. Currently as listed, the higher prices may artifically "glass floor" your market.

Very nice stuff! After I graduate from my Master's program, get a job, replace my stolen bicycle, and pay off the loan against my helm I just might be able to swing a fancy tunic :)

When I've done enough research to get the hang of the Sicilian Norman fusion of Arab Muslim and Byzantine fashion. Not to mention the cash. I can't imagine all that bead work would be cheap. Though a less dressy tunic might be do able. As mentioned, costs for the lowend on the website would be helpful. Otherwise, you will be limiting yourself to the highend court garb. That may be the kind of product you want make, but the website doesn't reflect that.

Ok, I took the advice and have modified the prices based on light or no embroidery. Keep in mind that this price includes linen hand dyed and hand stitched. Let me know if anyone has any other suggestions.

Byzantine garb

Post by OlrunLoki »

FYI: we just got finished doing Byzantine garb for a Crown list tourney down here. I do a lot of research on the periods that are not my "specialty" I just love the learning. I will have pics of it posted soon I promise. It actually was not THAT bad...... the superhumeral was killer. Wait til I show you.Currently I have 14th c Saxon garb that will be worn at Coronation this coming week. pics of that will be posted as soon as they take the throne.

BTW George, your garb will be cut this coming week. I should be able to mail yours and Canadas about the same time. :D

I didn't realize that the prices were for hand dyed fabric. The way it is worded it sounds like that is an additional option on top of the base price.

I would suggest as complete a price breakdown as possible, like:
Base tunic price: $X
Hand dyed fabric: +$Y
Embroidery: +$Z/sq. inch or hour or whatever
Hand sewn seams: +$Q/inch

Total estimate $A

garb

Post by OlrunLoki »

well here is the quirk of that;
Until I speak with people on an individual basis regarding what exactly they want, it is sort of hard to say what or how much a piece will actually cost. (btw it is mentioned in the about us about the linen being hand dyed) as I like to do each piece individually, and most of the pieces to date have been so, its hard to say what a basic one would cost. All of the ones so far have been fairly heavy in the embroidery dept.
(Greenshield, I am still working on the caterwompus tunic, I have not forgotten....)
That being said, I did modify the prices, and I am going to take each person on a case by case basis until I get a real feel for what basic prices should be. Right now even the basic prices are really discounted so I can drum up some business and get some garb out there. First 20 inquiries get the best prices. Three have taken me up on it so far.....

This is just gorgeous! My favorite. I'd love to see a picture that shows more of it.

Nice model, too. :)

I changed all the pricing to reflect the "base" level of garb that is available. Olrun promised to get me photos of other pieces soon. :-)

I HIGHLY recommend taking advantage of her discounted pricing while it lasts. As you can see, her work is beautiful. Soon she will be filled with orders, so the prices will go up (so will the wait).

Close Murdock. He is an Earl and a Viscount. And he is a member of the Yomsvikings, not Regia. But we did go to Hastings, woo hoo!!

ok here is a few full length shots of that tunic....
BTW Uric, YOU get what you want.....within reason, LOL

The acanthus Leaves are from the Mammen grave. They were smaller than this, with a gripping beast/human motif being larger, but this is what I mean by documentable but personalized designs.
