Ottoman's 1453

Post by Benedek »

I"m looking for images of armour and clothing from the Ottoman's around the time of the Fall of Constantinople. Particularly helmets of the period and clothing, arming clothes as well as civilian.

Much appreciation.

I have a buch of photos from museums in Istanbul here:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/derianlebr ... 245951449/

I haven't categorized them by date, but I did try to put the date in the description when it was available.

Edit: Most of the things labeled as "greaves" are cuisses that have been displayed upside down. Look at the big buckles at the bottom, and the general tapering of the pieces towards the knee cop.

Edit edit: Most of the armour was in the military museum and Topkapı Palace:

I have seen most of these photo's multiple times, many that I ravenously adore, I guess I will have to go through and check the dates more closely.

Thanks for the input guys.

It is also well to know, that the things labeled "arm guard" are really greaves. (They only protect the outside of the lower leg)
