I'm looking for images of a Bag-Sleeved Cotte in period 14th Cent art.

Anyone?

As opposed to out-of-period 14th century art?

Posting from my phone at the moment, but there are a few in the c. 1390 Tacuinum Sanitatis - go to BNF Mandragore and search for Nouvelle acquisition latine 1673 (at least I think that's right, but someone can correct me if it's otherwise).

Also thought of the Ellesmere manuscript, but that's c. 1410. That style really gets more common on the other side of the year 1400.

Yep, right manuscript. See ff. 5v, 20, 27, 30v, 37v, 38v, 83, 83v, etc. More of them have kind of an open sleeve at the bottom/cuff area, rather than coming back and fitting at the wrist (fol. 52 for example, though obviously there's a lot of variation within this manuscript), but some of the "bag" sleeves also appear. It shows up on women's gowns as well as men's, in this manuscript, at least.

http://www.virtue.to/articles/bag_sleeve.html shows some more.

Also, the frescoes at Runkelstein, IIRC, but the clearest example from there that I can find at the moment is http://www.runkelstein.info/images_big/musiker_en.html

I have some images of them here: http://www.historiclife.com/Essays/Houppelands.htm

I however find they are a turn of the century (15th century) fashion rather than a 14th century fashion. I made one for my Gaston Phoebus outfit.

D, an earlier version that is famous would be the the Charles VI jupon in the Chartres Cathedral, and of course the Hohenklingen effigy... the first not being "art" technically but a garment, and the second being funerary art, not illumination-type art. These aren't the deep bag style though. How deep of a bag are you looking for?

I'm guessing, based on the orthography in the original post, that it has to do with Revival's "Bag-Sleeved Cotte." Right?
