Maille gorget question

In some renaissance paintings of knights or other male figures, I remember to have seen that sometime people that wear a maille gorget have a small rectangular golden tab in the throat. Now I was unable to find an example to show you, but even recently at a Melozzo da Forlì exibition, one of the portrait had this feature.
Do you know what it is?
It is a maille gorget what they wear or it maybe a maille hauberk with a tall neck with a frontal closure?
Any idea?

I have seen two things that could fit what you are talking about. I have images of a standard with brass rings in a triangle shape hanging on the outside of the collar, you see triangles like this in effigies in the 15c. I have an image of a maille cape with clasps on the neck too.

It may have been a closure hook or buckle. I've seen these on "bishop's mantles", the one in the Saint Louis Art Museum has this feature.

This is very interesting, yes probably something like that. Do you think that a maille hauberk with tall neck could have had a similar closure?

I don't see why not, but it could be laced as well.
