Pavillion (pics)

Post by Edric »

These are some pics of the pavilion I am constructing. My lady
bought the top at a garage sale for $25. It is one of those big 10'
umbrellas that hang from a frame that have been getting popular,
the frame that came with it is broken but I am thinking about fixing
it to help with set up. I made the poles out of 1 1/2" square poles.
They are 6 1/2' tall. The horizontal poles are made from the same
stuff. Before I found out that grommets only come in up to 1/2" I
put 1/2" rods in the top of the vertical poles and ended up having
to grind them down with an angle grinder to make them fit the
grommets. I added the grommets and made sure I sewed extra
canvas to reinforcement. The horizontal poles attach to each of the
vertical poles with eye screws as shown. The sides (which I am
ordering the canvas for today) will slide onto the horizontal poles.
The ropes are 1/2" sisal, the slides were made from wooden
stakes that I found laying around.

Check out this idea. This is from Dragonwing Tents owner.
Looks like you both have had the same idea.
