Okay, so I'm looking for iconography (aren't we all?) Seems like everyone but me has access to loads of it. I'm jelous.
where do you FIND the stuff??? Are there books full of it? Are there websites of it? Do you walk up to the reference desk and ask for pretty pictures from the 15th century???
I'm sorry, I'm a little frazzled. I'm also wishing we could put together a comprehensive list of resources -kind of like our Armour Golosary. JT?
I'm looking for the third quarter of the 15th century specificly, but at this point, I'll take whatever I get. Books, Websites, whatever. War, Peace, Everyday Life, I'm not picky.
HELP!
HELP!
Where do I FIND these resources???

If you're interested in the 3rd quarter of the 15th century you are one lucky son of a bitch. Not only is there a *lot* of extant iconographical material, but 15th-century art is so much more photo-realistic than earlier art that you have a really easy time interpreting it. If the 14th century just wasn't so much cooler...
Anyway, for someone from your period I suggest you start with the best LH magazine I've ever seen, The Dragon. It's the newsletter for the Company of St. George in Europe; the one Gerry Embleton ran for a long time.
They have a web site at:
http://www.companie-of-st-george.ch/index_1.phtml
Go to the Dragon and you'll find eleven issues of their superb magazine with excellent and well-researched articles on all aspects of 15th-century life plus *pages* of line drawings (many from the inestimable Embleton himself!) showing furniture, tentage, clothing, household items, etc. The issues are all in .pdf format.
Other than that, almost any book you see will contain *mostly* 15th century manuscript illuminations, simply because there's so much still around. Even when showing ealrier periods they tend to show 15th century paintings.
Another good source is the Biblioteche Nationale de France. Their web site has hundreds of MS paintings from a variety of manuscripts. You can see it here:
http://www.bnf.fr/enluminures/manuscrits/amanuscrit.htm
If you need more to get started let me know.

One site I might reccomend is a book merchant who I work for. Check out www.castlefurnishings.com or look for us at War in the bazzar tent that is NOTHING but book merchants. She often has great books along those lines at remaindered prices (usually about 50% of retail) P.S. This is NOT an advertisement...I shoped her long before I knew her and only work for her now because her old help (my lady) is kinda expecting and its kinda my fault
