Following the advice of someone in another recent thread, I would like to do some more persona development by trying to match a persona to the armour I have (or am collecting). I am leaning towards 14C, either Germany or Italy, but I'm open to suggestions.
I am working on a #21 Wisby CoP and splint arms with pointy, non-articluated cops. I currently have a sugarloaf helm, but will eventually change to a bascinet (with an interchangeable bargrill and period visor). The legs I have are crap, but will be last to be upgraded, as they are functional.
So, is there any time/place that matches this well? Especially that allows me to use both a sugarloaf and bascinet? Perhaps at a time when the one was almost out of style and the other just coming in?
Oh, for the record I play with MSR and SCA.
Thanks,

If I had to date your ensemble, I'd say about 1335. Sugar loafs (loaves?) were disappearing, and while great helms were in vougue, bascinets were showing up. Splinted arms and legs had a peak in around 1330, and then another weird Germanic resurgence later in the century, though that may have just been a stylistic choice by effigy makers.
Definitely look at the primary sources yourself. Edge and Paddock's Arms and Armour of the Medieval Knight is excellent if you can get it. There are some worth while effigies from the era on the web that might help.
