Me and a friend have been looking into getting some good wool in an "broken diamond" or "herribone" weave, medium weight. The minimum order is 50 yards (approx. 48" wide) at $20/yard. I know you can find wool cheaper, but usually not in this weave, not from 100% natural wool, and not of this tight of a weave. We would probably get this in natural color, so anyone who got some could die to taste.

If anyone would be SERIOUSLY interested in getting in on this, please post here or let me know via email. If we can get enough people to go in and get at least 50 yards, we'd be in business.

Ahh how fine is the wool? (Merino or Suffolk?) Is it worsted or woolen spun?
What is the epi? How wide?

If you are interested in this for authenticity you need to know the details...

I'm no textile person, but it's right. I'm having a textile curator help me with my talks to the weaver. It will be done on a modern machine. I'll get the info you requested and post it. However, please note that I already said 48" wide. Also, what is epi?

Ends Per Inch, a measure of how tightly woven/how fine the thread used is. Most folks use wool that is way too few epi---just can't weave it as well as they did back then! The weaver and the textile person will recognize the term.
