So this year I shot my first deer (a 4 pointer with a busted tine), and I decided to attempt to tan the hide (again). So I wonder, what exactly am i going to do with that afterwards? So I ask you: What can I do with either deer leather or a pelt with the hair that is period to any time period and location (as long as its Europe before 1700)? Thanks

Per Oakeshott, deerskin was much favored for swordbelts from the 11th to the 13th century.

It's also listed in at least two sources as one of the layers in a padded jack.

Well thanks guys! Here's a godd one for ya. So today I came home from after my workout and i looked over to where I had set up my table and deer hide outside where i was fleshing it. It was tipped over, and it was very windy so i figured i better go deal with that. I walk over, and theres dog prints everywhere and one missing deer hide. So, I guess I gotta get a new one this weekend. But I'm not done yet! Bwahahaha!

Doggonnit, now I'm going to wake up tonight at every noise. I've got two hides soaking in bucking water, and another in clear rinse, and they're all outside under the carport.
tinkle,clack...WHAT'S THAT!!! GET AWAY DOGS!!!
