Historic Enterprises hosen (review)

Post by Winterfell »

Since the topic of period clothing and comfortability has come up on here a few times I thought I would relate this:
I ordered a pair of hosen and points from Historic Enterprises a bit before Christmas.
Last Monday I recieved notification that they shipped my hosen and points and that it would arrive in the next week.
It arrived today, and I am very well pleased with them.
They are the 15th century style in burgundy, and they not only look great but fit perfectly as well.
I am all around pleased with the professional and courteous service that I recieved, and the top notch quality of the hosen themselves. (Gwen you can quote me if you like. Image )
Normaly my group tries to make their own stuff, but comparing the price to the time and frustration I would normally spend on hosen, HE won out.
A few notes on the hosen, they are not "tights" and they are not a costume. The hosen are fully functional clothing, that can be worn in summer, or winter, or even under armour. They fit to the body just fine without bunching or confining. The wool is not scratchy or too thin either and can be worn without being pointed to a doublet or pourpoynt (although I recommend that you point them anyways) and fulled up very nicely. If you order them I also recomend that you get their points as well, which are also of exceptional quality.
Here is a link to their page:

Gwen's hosen rock

i have several sets

I just wish there was a good way to adjust the feet.

I actually wear them under my uniform when it gets real cold. Don't need my huge coat then Long sleeve tshirt, wool hosen and my braise, my hot ole hybrid kevalr vest, and my wool blend winter uniform and i'm fine down into the teens.

I ordered a pair of chauses a few weeks ago myself and would like to pointout that I am simply in love with the wool and the construction is awesome. However one foot is about 2 sizes smaller than the other one. You can see where the foot is bunched up then sewn. I am not unhappy since I am gonna cut the toes out anyway. I will very soon order from them again, for my wife. The other items are simply awesome. Thanks!!!!!

I also have a pair of Braise and Hose. I used them that Hastings UK this past October and they held up extreemly well to combat and were comfy and warm to boot. I will definatly order from them in the future.

Ack! We do make mistakes sometimes, so if you'll send them back, I'll be very happy to replace them for you. Even if you plan to cut the toes out anyway, I'd like to see what went wrong so it doesn't happen again.

For anyone else reading this, please don't hesitate to contact me directly if there is ever a problem with something you've purchased from us! We stand behind everything we sell, and it's embarrassing to read things like this. Image Remember- if I don't know about it, I can't make it right!

Thanks!

We just got in about 150 dozen points, so I think we're set for a while. Image

Jeffrey redesigned them and they are ever so much nicer than the old ones- smaller in diameter, come to a sharper point and are longer so the shape is better all the way around.

Don't wait to order though- we'll be moving into our new building January 14-21 (FINALLY!!) and won't be shipping anything during that week. Jeffrey's going to put something up on the website about it in the next day or 2 so people will know what's going on when we don't answer the phone.

Just looking at the picture here . . . when one had to urinate, whence came the member? Were he braies pulled down, or perhaps a braise leg pulled up? There seems to be no portal.

What ever works for you!

Do you ever wear those sport shorts that are draw string and have no fly?

Not trying to take this thread down that road!!!

I don't know what colors we have in what size right now, but we try to keep
the following colors in stock most of the time:

Black
Grey, Dark and/or light
Ivory
Red
Chestnut
Brown
Tan
Copper
Gold
Green, Dark and/or light
Blue, Dark and/or light
Dusty purple

Black *always* sells out first and will be out of stock until we do another run, in this case in June for Pennsic.
