#90 Flemish Tapestry, 16th C
One of a pair of Brussels tapestries depicting episodes in the history of Scipio Africanus

As Peder/Petrus said:

"Other than the fact that its fantasy Romano-Greek armour from the renaisssance it does indeed look like a kidney belt."

Looks like warped impression of Lorica Segmentata, with no shoulder or collar plates.

To me it looks like the guy is wearing a bunch of belts on top of each other. The lorica segementa works just as well.

If you look closer, you will see that it is three sets of straps coming off of one belt.

I don't think it is a warped version of a LS for the simple fact that by this time, there are plenty of anime suits running around, which is the late period derivation of the LS.
