Hi everyone,
Can anyone provide any information, artwork/images or helmets that consist of a fencing visor? By fencing visor I mean a visor that has only small holes in it for sight and breathing (think 5 - 10 mm drill hole size).
I have an image from Talhoffer's 1443 fencing treatise of such a fencing visor and bascinet but wont post it just yet as I'll have to upload it to a geocities website. But any information would be much appreciated. It is for use for headstrikes with metal weapons.
Regards,
Wyrm.

Not cheap but at least you can ask some armourers if they can make it better.
The "waffle" grill bascinet is another I have seen in contemporary illustrations.

thanks for the image, this is the thing I am looking for and yes I am looking to see their use (or lack of) in history, not in SCA (but at the risk of being crucified on the authenticity archive I am kinda curious about the SCA rapier visors...)

Could you post it? I'd really love to see it, as I'm very interested in period visors that might fulfill SCA rapier regulations.
