Hi All,

Unfortunately, our efforts to get insurance are not panning out, and I am not going to leave you all in suspense - I thought it better to cancel the event now, so you can rearrange your schedules.

The Good News (Yes, there is good news) is that having just got off the phone with one of the site owners, I am 99% certain we can have the site next year, and I am sure we will have coverage by then, because we are organizing our group as an NPO on an official level, and we are working with a few other groups to come up with an umbrella to cover Early -Era reenactment - more than just 15th century groups, as a means of doing what the big boys of the reenactment world have done, to get their policies.

So in a few days, I will post a "Retreat to Calais - II.V" to organise next years event. If you aare either a 15th century group, or an independant reenactor of the era, please consider yourself invited. I'll be making contacts with every group I am aware of in the US and Canada, to send out official invitations to the event. For the first time, I will also invite vendors as well, who are willing to vend period objects.

God willing, we will see you all at the Michaelmas event. Please keep everyone updated on the event on this board.

You are always welcome up here Russ, anytime you would like to come out. Just give me a holler.

There is always next year too - we have the property reserved for the weekend before Memorial day next year at this point.

It will be there next year Jeff, so it will be like you didn't even miss it.

Ya - and there's the fall Paston Event. We're contemplating the sites to try and make it easier on you nothern folks to attend.

We will be there. Just get me a date, and as soon as you can so people can start planning, and we will double our numbers from previous years with a boost from Wolfe Argents Second Lance. I'll need to know if a site allows horsies as well - I can't afford to ship mine down if it's doable, with the current gas prices, but Tom might want to bring Brutus.

I'm hoping that we have a date by the end of the week, with the exact site soon to follow.

Too bad about the cancellation but thanks for your efforts. I will look forward to next year.

It's a bummer you had to cancel. Sounds like a lot of folks were set to have a great time.

Thanks for the encouraging words everybody. We will have this straightened out by next year, so you can mark the date now if you like. I was looking forward to seeing you again Tim, since we last met in '98 - are you coming to the Michaelmas event?

Likewise, Bob. But please forgive me, I am out of touch and don't know when or where the Michaelmas event is---though I have heard of it before. Would you be so kind as to clue me in on the details?

We are working out the details now Tim but we will run the event between mid September and mid October either at Marietta Mansion in this area or Gettysburg. Not sure what scenario we will run this year but I hope for some combat again
