Mord in the Library...

Post by Mord »

Seeing as I didn't go to Pennsic, some of you might be asking, "what did Mord do during his vacation?" I went to libraries, of course! Some highlights:

From Cornell University's Olin Library:

Storgaard, B. "Military Aspects of the Aristocracy in Barbaricum in the Roman and Early Migration Periods." ISBN 8789384752 (2001).

Riesch, H. "Pfeil und Bogen zur Merovingerzeit." ISBN 3935616090 (2002).

Gabriel,I. "Karolingische Reitersporen und andere Funde aus dem Graberfedl von Bendorf, Kreis, Rendsburg-Eckenforde" "Offa (periodical)" Vol. 38 (1981) beginning page 245. Found here were 4 pair of prick-spurs and a sword.

Harck, O. "Spatslawische Grabefunde in Norddeutschland." "Offa (periodical), Vol. 33 (1976), pp 132-146. A discussion of 11th and 12th century Slavic finds in Northern Germany.

Kulakov, V.I. "The Amber Lands in the time of the Roman Empire." BAR International Series 1356, ISBN 1841718017 (2005).

Westphal, H. "Franken oder Sachsen? Untersachungen an Fruhmittelalterlichen Waffen." aka "Studien zur Sachsenforschung 14" ISBN 3895988758 (2002). For those of you interested in early medieval swords and weapons, this book is for you. This work contains an extentsive catalog of swords, saxes, and spear-heads from what seems to be Northern Germany and Holland.

More later...
