Man, I wish I had photo hosting ability.
I just finished making the last checker for a backgammon set. Walnut table, round recesses for the checks at each point, gold painted points. About 24" x 19". The checks are 1 and a half inches across by 3/8" thick--nice and beefy without getting too out of hand. The dark ones are rosewood and the light ones are white oak. The whole thing is finished with Citrus Oil and Beeswax.
