Books I can find
Painting seem to be kicking my ass
I am looking for the following:
Barlam & Joasaph, Byzantine 14th C, Bib. Nat. Ms. Gr. 1128, Paris
History of Alexander, Byzantine early 14th C, Lib. of S. Giorgio di Greci, Venice
wall-paintings, byzantine 14th C, in situ Ag. Nikolaos Orfanos, Thessaloniki
wall-paintings, Serbian 1338-50, in situ Monastery Church, Decani
St. George wall-painting, 14th C, in situ Ch. of Panagi Phorbiotissa, Asinou, Cyprus
In case anyone is wondering these are references used to 'inspire' some of the McBride drawings in the Osprey book Late Byzantine Armies.

Karen, Thanks very much. These are particularly cool.
Halvgrim, I have a mate who has a facsimile copy of the Romance of Alexander. I might be able to persuade him to scan a few frames from it (be aware the book is completely full of illustrations, and is about 3 inches thick!).
There seem to have been two artists involved in producing the work, and honestly unless there are particular pictures you're after, if you get two or three examples of the work of each artist, you'll probably have all you need.

It's not really armour if you haven't bled on it.

I think the Romance of Alexander your friend has is probably Bodleian MS 264 -- right? Dunno if that's anything like the History of Alexander at S. Giorgio di Greci, though I reckon it's the same fellah who's the hero in the story.

No, my friend has the Greek "Alexander". 14th century and Byzantine. Pretty cool. It's quite possibly the one you mention, but I'm really not sure.
There's some more nice Byzantine warrior pics from the C14 in the Church of St Saviour in Chora (otherwise known as the Kariye Djami/Cami/Jami) in Istanbul - see Also the Church of St Savious in Chora (otherwise known as the Kariye Jami) in Istanbul has some very good 14th century mosaics of Byzantine soldiers - see http://images.google.com.au/imgres?imgu ... en%26lr%3D and http://images.google.com.au/imgres?imgu ...
