Authentic style of shoes?

Post by Bleddyn De Caldicot »

wondering if these are accurate? http://tn1-5.pv.deviantart.com/fs17/150/f/2007/161/8/0/Viking_shoes_by_huldremor_by_Shadow_of_Yggdrasil.jpg The website calls them viking shoes. Vaugely remember seeing something similar in the history museum in Iceland...cept it said they were made of cloth.

Those are known as ghilles, or bog shoes. There are dozens of extant examples and different designs to include ones with decorative piercing and tooling.
