Have you seen the ads for the Sword of Chivalry Tournament and World Invitational Joust, and wanted to know more about historical jousting in the US? Want to know what's required and how to get involved? Now's your chance! Jeff and Gwen of Historic Enterprises will host an informal roundtable discussion about Royal Armouries sanctioned jousting in the US.
We'll discuss the format of the events and the historical model the format is based on. We'll look at video clips and photos from past events both here in the US and in the Royal Armouries Tiltyard. We'll examine the equipment used in the various events, and discuss aspects such as the difference between a joust and a tournament, scoring, the roles of the mounted squires and ground crew and more. Learn how to get an event going in your area!
Love history and horses but don't ride? Even though they are the most visible component, it is generally reckoned that the jousters make up only 25% of a jousting event. Even if you don't ride, there is a place for you in historical jousting.
From foot squires, scorers and judges on the field to the grooms and wardrobe assistants behind the scenes, if you love the sport, there is definitely a role to suit you!
Date and time are still under discussion, so if you or your group would like to participate, please email jousting@historicenterprises.com to reserve your spot.

Our get together is now scheduled for
8pm Tuesday August 5,
at our Historic Enterprises booth, #35, Street of Dreams, near the barn.
We think this is the best time since there are no battles, courts or other major activities then.
Please email me at jousting@historicenterprises.com if you plan to come, so we have an idea of how many to expect.
We look forward to seeing you there!
