Who did this Burgonet?

Post by Hospitaller@Acre »

This fine lady was wearing this excellent Scottish Burgonet..Steel Bonnet..LOL at Diamond Wars last weekend. The faceplate is removable..didn't get a pic of it on..such good work thought it was a dress helm at first..the lady is from Calontir I believe.. I will cross posting this thread on I want to be a Border Reiver.
Thanks
Ranulf

I do not *know* but I would suspect Master Glendour.

Actually I believe that is a Waldryk Helm. I don't think it is mild steel, only satin finished Stainless.

Here is another pic of her:

That is indeed a great burgonet. Even the bargrill looks closer to some historical examples than the normal SCA bargrill.

I love seeing examples of female Border Reiver kits. I'm hoping to get a burgonet for my fencing kit.

That certainly looks like an interesting project.

If the hinges are functional the cheek pieces can be made to fit quite close. Yes?
The grill should hold them together when it is secured in place.
When worn with out the grill a chin strap could hold them in.
Thanks for all the pics.

Yep, thats Kaye of Gordon.

She, and her hubby(Ostwald), are really amazingly cool people. Kaye is only about 22" tall, and weighs somewhere around 7.3lbs. No really...

The scary thing is shes gonna be an ass kicker. She just wont quit. If need be, she will bring along a sack lunch so she can take a nice break from trying to kick your ass all morning only to resume working on kicking your ass methodology late into the day. No coffee breaks, just ass kicking.

Like fighting a rabid chihuahua.

Oswald and Kaye are some of my favorite folks.

It isn't likely Glendour's work. I called him last night and described the differences between what I was used to on his, and this, and I was right.

I'd bet it is Waldryk's work.

I was looking through old posts and found this one, I know it's a really old thread, but figured I'd chime in anyway! It's been awhile since I'v had a chance to read the archive!
This helm was made by Waldryk, and Kaye was his squire ( She's now the Queen of Calontir!)
I just wanted to say thank you for the photos!! There awesome! I hope no one minds that I copy them and send them to her!
