Bec de Corbins For Sale - SOLD

Post by JJ Shred »

Now it is starting to hurt - I'm selling things I really don't want to - like this matched pair of bec de corbins, originally from MRL @ $138.00 each with shipping. $175.00 plus shipping for the pair, or one for $95.00 plus shipping.

Are these gone?

If not, I'd like one.

I should have charged more for these! The pair was sold before I got my lazy butt out of bed this morning. Payment was received via paypal for the both! Sorry to everyone else, it looks like I could have sold 6 more if I had them.

I had one I was selling also a few months ago. Not a bad piece of weaponry, it just didnt fit with my period of interest anymore. I sold mine for the same sale price MRL was closing them out at (dont recall what it was, just that it wasnt as much as I'd hoped).

I wish MRL would bring back some of their stock from a decade or so ago...they had some real cool stuff.

I picked up a bec de corbin not too long ago, and I'm glad that I did.
It's such an impressive tool, and immediately recognizable to people with only a cursory knowledge of arms and armour. It is guaranteed to generate interest.

However, I'm curious as to how you gentlemen kept the head tight with the haft?

I've considered an internal weld between the head and the langets, with a scoop of wood removed to accomodate the bead. But I've been too busy with other projects to either reinforce the head or stain the haft.

These MRL ones are one piece, so it isn't a problem. I have another, which is a copy of Henry VIII's that has the problem that you described, with the bec & hammer one piece and the spear and langets a 'U' that rivits over them.

Hey Jef, just a quick note to let you know they arrived.

For everyone else, if you want something packed "SECURELY" let Bascot do it. Took me nearly 20 minutes to get them out of the box :D

You should try to find a box to try shipping something like that! They ran me off the local grocery store property for "rummaging" through their "valuable" cardboard recycling bin. That was originally good plywood, basswood veneer I believe, but didn't make it through the house sale/storage/move/barn storage unscathed. I figured a car could run over it without damaging it, and having worked for the post office, felt that that was a minimum standard to follow!
