Having seen some of those guys run the tilt at each other, from close range, I can safely say they are the Corleones, even if half of them are US imports or Dutch
I look forward to a foot combat for some of the lower orders to be arranged.
Out of interest, is the 'mafia' only for full harness wearers or is it other aspects of the hobby?
I wont be able to see them at the armouries as I will be further South, sadly.

I don't suppose girls count as thugz, right? How about if they've been accused of running with scissors and wield a mean flesh hook?
I did include a couple of non-armoured pics, but here's another, just because I don't think 'thugz' have to wear armour-
So I won't get to see you yet again??? I hardly saw you for 10 minutes at the market!

Gwen, the doublet in that last pic (the on the with the index finger over the sword crossguard) is WICKED. Did you make it? If so, where did you get that fabric?

Take this ring. There is nothing more capacious, more whole, or more durable than the circle. At every point it is suited to repelling blows, and its motion is the freest of all figures. -Leon Batista Alberti

Hallo Mag!
That's my brother Dominic wearing a Pleated Coat from my shop. It's my pattern but to be fair, I didn't make it myself, my assistant Denise made it.
The fabric? Just some farby imported Italian stuff I picked up in LA.
Glad you like it, I do too!

As it happens I will be familyfying at Brother in law's and down at Hampton Court for a visit.
My old nickname was Thug for quite a while, when on visits to foreign lands, I never aspire to be posh thug, just a rough and ready one.
When my hand made hand dyed upper parts are finally delivered I shall tog up and strap on my Vicker's hanger and bung on the Hedgcock sallet and join as a thug hanger on. Oh and my bow and arrows etc. Or shall I just be a thug craftsman?

Some oldies from my former thug days, noting that I dumped the hood, no longer have that sword, nor the livery, nor the invisible breastplate (hidden by coat), don't use the coat any more, have the sallet and similar hose and shoes.
But not bad for 15 years or so ago.
The top one is of a more gentle excercise, out pinters' workshop in Southampton. ignore the dodgy clothes please, note I still have that hat.
The harness in the two fighting pics is almost all Emrys, the sallets were most certainly.

It does look like that, doesn't it?knitebee wrote:Charlotte, that looks like some card game "I see your fancy belt and raise you a baby". I must know where ever did you get those cards? I found a small image of a very simular deck many moons back and have wished to find some like those.

They're not our cards, they belong to wolfesco.
Do you not know that in the service... one must always choose the lesser of two weevils?
Playing Cards
Hello,
Thanks for the props on my cards. They originally started out as an expensive misatake. I had ordered a "replica" deck from the MET. What I got for my $120.00 was pictures of the cards on modern card stock with the MET symbol on the back.
It took me many, many days to find a good paper, scan all the cards, clean them up to remove the MET stamps, print them out, glue the paper together to make card stock and finally cut and varnish each card.
To be honest they are large enough to be just a bit annoying to play with and without index numbers you really have to pay attention to the cards and even count sometimes just to be sure what card you are playing.
I may be interested in parting with the originals from the MET if you want to go through the same pain in the butt card making I did.
Here are a few pics of us playing cards at our Michaelsmas event.
And one of me in armor
And one in clothes
Enjoy,
Steve

He's wearing a Matuls "Gambeson" Type 4. They cost about $190 with the shipping. Matuls does make a 20 layer jack but it's a lot more ($410 with shipping)... and he'll even have it hand sewn if you want (about $720 with shipping...Cha-ching).
Cheers,
DT
