Passing on the Iraq armor boxes....
Hi guys,
Looking for a bit of help here. I need to get in touch with a fighter or group of fighters somewhere in the mid-east that I can forward the overseas armor boxes to.
The original post for this stuff was http://forums.armourarchive.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=85648&view=next
I have added a set of elbows and knees and a couple of helms to the lot. It'll be pretty easy for me to get this stuff moving to whoever fairly quickly (gotta love mail between APOs!).
I'm off to work, but please PM me if you're in the Iraq/Kuwait/Afghanistan area and need gear for a fighter practice.
Thanks!

To make sure I understand correctly...you are looking for a fighter, or group of fighters, deployed somewhere to get this armor collection to so they can fight while they are deployed, right?
I am trying to track down contact info for some guys overseas right now, I'll get info to you as soon as I can.

MacTavish is in Iraq now also.... But he says it's a very
small base and he has little hope of finding anyone to
swing a stick at.....

Deployment- Going to Bagram
I am deploying to Bagram in Dec, and am searching for someone to swing a stick at...Last time I was in the 'Deid, but did not start looking til I was there (mistake...) I will be bringing my own "travel" armor...if there is a way to "reserve" the armor box, that would be great....If you know anyone going over that way this winter, please have them PM me....

Al Udeid
Hey all. I'm heading off to Al Udeid in Feb for a 120 day rotation. I was wondering if there was anyone out there, and if they had brought their kit.
Let me know if there is someone there to hit.

I am still in the JBB area. I was thinking that when the boxes get passed that I would try to send em to Afganistan. All part of the Draw Down.

With a little spare time, money and energy I worked on my armour kit when I was in Iraq (at the time, I had little time or energy... so mostly money was spent on it) and would have liked to find someone to swing a stick at, but I have some concerns about this great gesture.
Continuity in the Middle East is terrible, continuity between SCAdians can be bad. You are placing yourself in what is likely to become a two-fold bad situation. Chances are likely that the armour parts will get lost, stolen or blown up my rockets.
I am not worried about the armour being hot and heavy, we wear hot and heavy armour all the time when deployed, but I am worried about the cultural concerns of the host nation. This will not apply to all personas, but I play a crusader... that might have raised a few eyebrows with the local nationals.
If you have items in which you wish to give to military members so they can swing sticks at one another, I commend you greatly. I would start an email trend to have people bring the "middle east" loaner armour instead on their nice kits, but you will still have the problem with continuity.
These are just some ideas to think about.

We have a combat engineer shipping out to Afghanistan in a couple weeks, and he'd love to keep fighting. Any tips on how he should get in touch with like minded folks out there? How would he find this loaner gear?

The feelings of the host nation??????????? Sorry, those went away a long time ago. I carry a Templar flag on my rifle and tried to fly one from my truck last deployment.
I am just going to shut up now before I really go off.

I am in Abu Dhabi, UAE. If all else fails, I can hold on to the armor for you. I know it is a little out of the way, but I am trying to start a group here and we could use the extra stuff while getting people set up. I can probably fly in to pick up whatever you need to store. I will need to check and see what our policy is on traveling into Iraq.

Taking a rattan sword to a shooting match...
Going to be at BAF (Afghanistan) starting in Apr for 180+. I am planning on sending my back-up armor if there is even the remote chance of practicing. (Or training someone) If there is loaner armor over there and you are looking for some place to send it, PM me. If you are looking for someone to fight with, please PM me! If you even know someone over there that you want to get cracked at with a stick, just let me know...
