Video of my boy :-)

Here were some practice bouts:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odsdsk-wWPk

My 15 yr old was fighting rapier yesterday with Urbano de Garza (of the Hospitallers of Caid) at an Adrian Empire Event.\

He's just learning, but doing ok.

Very nice...I do miss the style of rapier I did with Adria...Can't do that in my SCA group...

So who was the young voice calling out,"Kick his butt Johnny" and then crowing like a rooster....That was funny...

he he. His cheering section is the 8 yr old son of Sir Eric Harbinger, and just can't wait to be out there fighting himself. It was cracking me up. Our kids have played together since they were little.

Jonny is "the big brother", and I think that to the younger boys it was so way cool that he was fighting a "grown up" and actually getting some in there.

He has been practicing SCA rattan, and should be able to fight at GWW with us, as his birthday is late September.

Thats cool, My mom was always a big supporter of me and my brother when we fought. And now at 63, she is still trying to get me to help her get authorised and geared up to be a combat archer...

I'm still hesitent about that..Not sure her knees would take it. Was trying to get out to the Adrian event this weekend, but had SCA stuff to do(big demo) and the Jimmy broke down in town after the demo, so no steel fighting for me...I'm kinda thinking of getting joined back up so that Doom has someone to fight with more often...That and I miss the rebatted steel fighting...The sword just looks lonely sitting on my wall not being used for the last three years...And I'm much better at avoiding all the political crap, and now that Alhambra has fragmented, I won't have to deal with most them folks...

Think I'll go watch the vid again...

Most of our group are SCA crossovers and my husband is KSCA. We'll post a video of some spear matches tomorrow.

We forgot about the video camera until the end of the day. Which is too bad, there were some very nice poleaxe/bill fights besides S&S.

If she didn't need both knees and hips replaced...I would have sewed her aketon myself, and giving her my old bow to use, and she would be doing it...

I spose if I do rejoin, I will have to get her ready...I am a very LARGE target, and I'll need to have someone to shoot the other archers before they get me... :P

Where'd you get his helm, I'm liking it! As for the bouts, awesome he's a lefty like me! From the looks of it he'll wind up settling in and become a really good rapier fighter for sure.

One of our local armorers made it. Perhaps Thorson on the Classifieds would do one for you. The Adrian Empire also has heavy rapier/Cut and Thrust and the helmets work for that as well.

Yes he's a lefty, as is his father. He moves a lot like his father too, who is 6'3". Jon is only about 5'9" currently. I think he'll be hitting a growth spurt soon. He's in some bad shoes for fighting there, but he's inherited the vanity of wearing a cohesive costume. We aren't going to buy him $200 custom boots just so he can grow out of them in 6 mos. He has other footwear that would have worked, but he wants to look cool. :-)

I think Jon's off to a decent start. His form is very rough, but he's got good timing and reactions.

I think Thorson is now posting as WaynO in the classified section.

In Adria he's going by Otto v. Ravensfield. (Hospitallers of Caid - SCA)

He's fighting Karl von Rottenburg (Corvus - SCA)

I hope to have my son fighting someday or even my daughter... Just think that is the greatest thing passing the dream over to your children..

Here we have vids of B. Amos's father who did pass fighting on to both his sons, both fighting now for some time. And vids of my son who is just starting out, but will soon be able to officially join our ranks. Both my husband and I are very excited about him fighting with us at GWW in armor. My second son will be a few years.

I was not sure if the kids would be interested. My kids only seem mildly interested and it wanes off and on. I know other SCA parents have found it very difficult to keep interest in the SCA for them in a certain tween and young teen age range.
