Burgonet progress(pic heavy)update5

Post by GuntherofOrkney »

Ok I remade the bever again and decided to use a pushbutton system to attach the bever. Tomarrow I just got to add the bar grill and the top comb and then minor tweeks. Its gonna be completely done saturday.

Looks nice. Is there going to be a safety on those spring pins to keep them engaged, (ie a sneck hook or something)? I can't wait to see it finished, I love me some burgonet! 8)

well with there being a pin on both sides and the bargrill being attached to the visor if you have 1 pin loose then you still will have the face peice on the helmet and will still be safe to fight in. Thats why I put one on each side and with 2 pins they both have to fail at the same time or you basicially have to bend the whole face peice for 1 of them to fail.

I have over 20hrs into this helmet so far which is alot more then I expected. I have about 4 to 6 more hrs of work to do but I am pretty happy with the results.

Looks really good.
I like the bevor idea, where it look like the bevor and bar grill are seperate parts that can be taken off to allow the hat part to be worn by themselves. Is that right?

Also do you add the comb after the shell halves are dished and joined?

Overall a great helm, I'm getting the itch to have one, just figuring out what everyone else is up to.

Yes I added the comb afterwards because Its so tall I couldnt make it as part of the dome. Yes the bever/grill are separate so later he could have me build a buff and have them interchangable.
