Tamoc

Post by Brutus »

This is my opportunity to tell my Tamoc story. :)

One of my early pennsics (to my best recollection) was 26 (maybe 27?). I was still pretty new to everything, and so had an endless supply of energy for pickups. Tamoc stood out at the time because he had no upper leg armor (or covering whatsoever), and had tons of welts along his thighs.

Him and I were fighting, and between a hard shot and both of us coming forward, I blasted him along the crown of the helm. Blood started running down his face, and I recall being horrified. It turned out he had some defective padding, and was completely cool about the whole thing. He invited me to his camp that night.

I had heard some "tuchux boogie men" stories, but I had a few beers in me and made my way over. I hung out, had a few drinks, and it made for an memorable Pennsic experience. It was one of those "transport you back" surreal moments.

A couple years later (I went from "Etienne" to "Brutus") I caught back up to him doing pickups. This time he returned the favor nicely. :)

I had a gladiator helmet with a large brim on it, like a cowboy hat. He nailed me with practically the same shot I got him with, and bent the brim completely down so it covered the eyes. Fortunately I brought my trusty "wolf's head" helm as a a backup!

Still one of my fondest Pennsic memories years later.
