"wisby" gauntlets KIT?

Post by whonew »

These are all 16GA mild , some have felt padding and some have blue foam padding . I tried using a "linesman"[thicker leather] gauntlet for the base this time and the customer was very happy . The blue pair is XXX large welding glove . Just finished these now onto hourglass!

It occurs to me they would be the perfect DIY kit. The time consuming part is putting it all together, and that's not the technically (or noise-producing) hard part.

If someone made decent kits for these (especially those wonderful hand backs) they could make a killing.

We have a gaunt kit maker that has expanded into helm kits on the forum.

Many swear by his gaunt kits.
However they are not finger gaunts.

Another enterprising member was selling pre cut and shaped finger pieces for gaunts.

I only sell the tools to make them.
I can not make a pair of gaunts with out the clients hands on my work bench.

Hal will not insist that the client detach and mail them, for this makes email communications... involved and difficult. 8)

Wow, at first thank you for so much laudation and the nice welcoming.

I wrote it yesterday to another member of the archive, that I plan the translation of my homepage in english, but I didn´t had the time yet.

Soon as possible I will start a new topic with some work of mine. Untill that time you can see the work on my homepage below "Produkte".

These gaunts were no DIY kit. They were a customer's request and customization.

But I´m thinking about it to sell DIY kits for these gaunts.

I would be interested to find out how much a DIY kit would cost, as well.

Not that one cut off their hands!

Perhaps a nice mold would help.
I would prefer some sort of flexible cast urethane.

This way... if also supplied with the clients fitted leather gloves, it might be possible.

Now grounding metal gaunts on the stick is a different challange altogether.

Take a look at these Archive classic patterns.

PS: Whonew... thoes are fine gaunt kits.
I have not seen them before.
Perhaps some sales and marketing on the classifides would help.

PS...thanks Hal, I still have the helm I got from you in a kit . It's complete and blackened in a glass case in my wife's store

whonew, those are some excellent looking gaunts. I don't think I've ever actually seen finger gauntlets in person, but I'm thinking of making some just because they looks like they'd be so much fun.

Definitely inspirational.
