I don't fight spear either, but when I do...I'm using THAT! It looks just like wood and it took a macho bar to break it. I ordered (2) as it's almost the holidays, and I like to do my christmas shopping early.

Honestly you may only need one. After watching logan and Afshin pounding on the spear, I'm thinking a single one could outlive me and I can pass it on to my kid!

Lemme talk to people at GWW and the folks in my local group. Might be able to work something out. If not ill just order 3, get 2 splicing kits and do it myself :)

Cheers!

dukelogan wrote:wasnt planning on it. if you get a big order together with some friends (to save on shipping) i can talk to ice about one of his splicing kits or maybe you can just buy some from him. i can also check with my supplier about making a run of 12'ers for you. not sure that i can ship them with ups although i think i could, also dont know what the cost to me would be.

email me privately and i can look into it. if there is enough interest in 12'ers i would be willing to see about getting that done for you.

For those of you out in the West, I just placed an order for a bunch of these this morning and just got confirmation from Logan that they shipped this afternoon. Talk about fast turn around. Fedex reports they should be here this weekend.

I will have them around for those that want to check them out first hand.

glad to hear that you like them. the funny thing was, we were talking in the shop as i was starting to put one together for myself. after sketching and whining (and having a few more sips of a tasty vodka beverage) one of my guys said "jesus logan, just pad the damn thing!". i said "no, i want it to look good and nissan probably has his already so now its a race!" he looked down at his q-tipped woodgrain spear, looked back at me (i gave him the famous "big daddy no is happy with you" look), and began peeling off his previous attempt.

at the end of the night we had rules laid out from the printer and were debating what certain words meant.

so, in short time, im gonna say "hey nissan! show me yours and i will show you mine" and we can post pictures. it will be a contest on the archive with the best spearhead design winning a spot on my website! what a prize, helping me sell more spears to the cool kids!

The Blackspear guys that picked mine up are foaming at the mouth waiting for me to pad mine as well. Everyone seemed pretty disinterested until they saw them in person and handled them, and now they're all...
 "I woot!"
And I'm all..
 "don't touch my spear!"
And they're all..
:x "You suck. You don't even fight spear. Let me borrow it."
and I'm all..
 "Whatever. Go get your own."
And then they're like...
 "I spent all of my money on cheap beer and even cheaper women."
And I'm like...
 "Spearless Losers."

not sure if it had been mentioned yet or not but we also carry a thinner (society minimum) version. its not yet on the website but the cost is the same, the only thing different is the weight is almost 1lb less (around 3.5 lbs). they certainly will not hold up to the kind of stress testing we did on our regular spears. email me with any questions.

Truly? these might be just the ticket for the one-handed beauties we discussed Your Grace, especially since in that role they would be shorter and being held in one point less susceptible to flex damage than the thicker ones...

Thanks!

I saw one in person today. Between these shafts and the new experimental 2 inch thrusting heads our spears may begin to look like something other than a giant Q tip.

I may actually have to fight spear in wars and be able to get in on the stabby fun.

The only problem I see with these is that there will be so many out there that look alike....it will be easy to pick up somebody else's by mistake.

If they came in various "shades" of wood colors- THAT would be insanely cool.

You mean like uniquely colored bright red ones? 8)
But seriously, people personalize their equipment, I've rarely seen people confuse their spear with another person's, even in the same household where people make the tips identically and in the same colors.
I'm totally willing to put up with someone accidentally grabing my spear if it means improving appearance on the field.
Besides, your attendants/squires/pages and coustilliers should be watching over your equipment and prevent people from just picking up your stuff.

Let me get a couple more paychecks under my belt first. I'm still trying to crawl out from under the whole left by my pre-pennsic auto repairs (missing a week's pay for pennsic didn't help).

be happy to help you with that. best to order in batches of 7 spears to get the best deal on shipping. also, we just received our new production of spears. these are nearly 16oz lighter (but not anywhere near as tough as what you see in our video). they are based on society minimum wall thickness and weigh about 3.5 lbs compared to the 4.4 lbs of our original ones. i dont find our originals heavy at all but ive had enough folks asking for the lightest spears i can supply, so there it is.

im thinking of marking them as "popeye" and "olive oil" versions.

anyway, go to the website and click the email link. give me your zip code and i can send you a shipping quote on 1 - 7 spears along with instructions on how to order them.

oh i dont know, my personal spear is lighter i think than our thinner walled ones although none of them feel heavy to me. but i also have a very different style of spear fighting than most folks i see. for one, i throw very few shots and rely on timing shots over mass firing. i also dont ever let go of my spear choosing rather to stick it with both hands on the haft.

my fire to "kill" ratio is exceptionaly high although my overall "kill" numbers are probably lower than most. i also dont know that ive ever had a spear shot called "light" before. at my skill level with one i prefer to act more in a blocking/supporting role for those truly good with the weapon so a lighter spear works fine for me.

Got my tube of spears today. Fantastic looking. Just one thing. You need to use more tape on the ends. One end was busted out.
I'll write a full review next week after the event this weekend.
