Post by agnarrinnmikli »

Hellow I have been trying to reach Torvaldr's Leatherworks but have been unsuccessful. I made an order in early july and have been trying to reach him for the past 2 1/2 to 3 weeks. If anyone knows how to reach him please contact me

I also have been waiting for quite some time on some of his work- have tried getting a hold of him several times over the past few weeks. I hope he's doing okay.

Anyone heard anything lately?

I believe that he was at Pennsic, but after that I have no idea.

He was at Pennsic, had to delay production for a while due to a flooding of his shop area and then had a bout of migraines from what I know. Plus he was having trouble with his net connection too. Not sure if he still is but they couldn't find the problem the last I understood.

Most effective communication method is apparently his email. I heard from him last on 10/8/09. My order from him is late, as well. Deadlines continue to slip on by and communication remains spotty.

if you read this thread

http://forums.armourarchive.org/phpBB2/ ... highlight=

it should give you some ideas what has been up with Torvaldr. Also his landlord (a/k/a my foster knight) has offered to attempt to assist people with communication as their have been some internet connectivity issues that Verizon is not being overly enthusiastic about getting resolved since they are on their end not the clients.

I'm about 1 1/2 hrs away so unfortunately I can't be much more help than that. I can say that Sir Alexander is quit busy right now being a teacher at standardized testing time and grades are due soon so I'm not sure how frequently he'll be checking in here over the next couple weeks but it might be worth a shot.

hope that helps

I just posted an update on a bunch of shipped orders. I also posted once before about how to reach me. Please use either of the emails below or call me at the phone number. Although you may not believe it you are far more likely to get a faster response by email than by phone. Posting here or sending me a pm probably wont work well, since I do not always get notices of pms or replies in my threads.

I have been very sick off and on almost since Pennsic. The meds I take to help control my arthritis suppress my immune system so I am very susceptible to just about any bug making the rounds, and have higher incidents with infections. Especially ear infections since I wear hearing aids. As the shipping update shows though I am getting orders done and shipped out/delivered there are 15 listed in the new thread.

If you write to me and do not receive a reply in 2 days, provided I am not at an event, please either write me again or call me.

Torvaldr is way cool. It may take a while but you'll get your stuff. And it's very good stuff.

As a recent Customer, who had never previously ordered or met Torvaldr in person I can understand where anyone is coming from with being concerned about their orders.

That haveing been stated I can say without any question if you placed an order with him , yes it will likely take awhile, yes it will miss a few or possibly even many dates/deadlines.
(This is not uncommon with armorers from the best of them to the worst of them; In fact this is not uncommon with any craftsman/artists, and as the better ones tend to have more work its easier for them to get backlogged and so it it often more common the better the craftsman.. Note this is not a 100% always true statement but a broad generalization that has some merit and basis in factual experience)
Back to what I was saying though, I can tell you all with certainty you will receive your armor from Torvaldr and it will be made exceptionally well and serve you well on the field. I personally will order from him again one of these days, even knowing it may take me a long time to receive my order, because his work is just that good, and by all accounts he is both an Honorable and Skilled man.

That now being out of the way Torvaldr I hope you get to feeling better and that life calms down for you soon man, I can completely understand the pains of leading an interesting life as some might say =)

Now if any of you has an order with Performance Armoury; Well stop worrying about what might be happening. Just come to terms with the likely fact that, you've been had, and will not likely see any armor from them that is useable if and when you see any armor at all from them. I recommend to those folks to take the hit; or start legal action against Performance Armoury which is the route I am taking.

it is also commonly prescription for rheumatoid arthritis.

Yes, I have psoriatic arthritis. It is similar to RA except that in addition to attacking joints it also attacks tendons and ligaments. So I often feel like I have tendinitis is several places at once. And of course I get this wonderful psoriasis rash. The methotrexate is used to suppress the immune system by attacking bone marrow. In fact if you OD on methotrexate you can kill all of your bone marrow. That is why it is a once a week dosage. It is also hard on the liver which is why I can't drink much alcohol. I always feel like crap the day I take it, and worse the next day. But I start to feel normal by the second day. I hope your son recovered okay.

As a Leukemia survivour trust me, the last thing you want to do is OD on that stuff :) Bone marrow regrowth is *not* pleasant in any way shape or form.

Hope you feel a bit better soon dude.

we had a helluva a scare one day when the younger boy pulled a chair over to the medicine closet, & got into the methotrexate, a trip to the er later,& drinking a cup of activated charcoal... every thing came out fine, a bit black  but it came out :P
