Product research Q's pants from linengarb - pics added

Post by Adric13 »

ok looks like the natural is winning the day. i have a call in with my folks to get back to me on fabric availability. pre sale will start this week and i'll start a new thread. pics and sizes will be there. Thanks ya'll. ==============================================================================

PRE-SALE STARTED HERE - http://forums.armourarchive.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=107200

==============================================================================
Regular linen pants have already been patterned and prototyped. They need a fabric choice which will lead to a pre-sale which will end in a mad crazy delivery frenzy. I hope...

What I need to know is what fabric. It will be heavy linen. But yall want natural or white or off white to start with? They will still get hand dyed and I will have a good selection of colour options but the natural will have a darker tone to the finished product. I am leaning toward the natural cause it will give a closer to period colour when dyed but at the same time won't have some of the brighter pop but they are pants after all and tend to get dirty etc so darker hides stuff better.

Any way - pricing for the pre-sale is looking like 27/+ shipping and a roll out regular price of 36$ and I'm gonna do a pre-sale incentive of 4pr for $100+ shipping and I'm gonna see I can get all 4 in a 10$ flat rate box.

SO back to the product Q- base fabric colour- natural or some shade of white/off-white. For dye colour reference my tunic pics on the site started white and were dyed from there.

ok wife is a little and im not but both of those shots are of the same pair pants so you can see how they look on different size folks and those are the smaller size.

I vote for the natural and I am in for a 4 pack (you'll be making these in ultra-fat boy sizes I assume)

Okay, I changed my mind, I'd be in for a 4 pack.

I'd be in to some of those. 2 or 4 pair in natural fabric.

My wife and I would likely be in, probably 2 pairs each. Depending on the final sizing, might be in for a couple pair for the kids. Natural white sounds like the best base to me.

BTW...still salivating at the thought of the other (Rus) pants...just ordered some and really, really am looking forward to them!

Keep up the great garb options!!

Natural and either 2 or 4.

They do look like a full cut, which concerns me a bit. Any chance in offering a smaller size?

I vote "natural" and I'd like to see a darker green and chocolate brown option. I foresee a 4-pack in my future.

Possibly interested in something in a darker green, natural, and perhaps a red. Most likely would order the first two at least.

Could you still do a pair in white or black for a Meridian Army brother? I'd also eventually get a pair for civilian wear in a more period color.

Any clue when they will be available off your site? I know some non-archive people who'd love a pair of the Rus pants.

While they fit her, they are just very baggy. Nearest I can tell, the proper sizing for many time periods (mine included) would be more fitted.

ah - got ya! yea i need a more fitted version. these are gonna run a bit baggy then. im looking for a more period pattern right now so if ya got any ideas or a go look here im up for it! :D

these will hit the site when they are in and the rus pants will hit when i can get some good model shots taken and have them loaded. If you know someone looking for the rus pants they can run an email through the contact tab on the web site and i will get back to them that way too.

Awesome, thanks Adric.

Hey, while I'm asking...do you ever do (or are planning on doing) hoods with shoulder drapes?

Just asking, I know you have a lot on your plate with what you're starting up now, much less add an extra item. I was just thinking that having your shirt, pants and hood all out of the same material with the same dye shade would be nice.

I remember seeing this one a while back. Though I think those patterns are not for commercial use. I'm not sure if that means you can't sell the pattern, or if you can't use the pattern to make saleable goods.

And of course, the ever awesome Larsdatter, who also links to there, among others.

Will you make some of these with a more fitted leg for us 14th century types? With a footi or a stirrup to keep them tuck in our boots?
