Well, shit. I sorta wish I'd known there was an 8 month backlog before I ordered a couple things during his big Sale.

December 02 was the last Email I got and he was going to update me the next day. Never heard from him after that. Only the post on the AA on the 9th of Dec.

Ordered and paid in July. I was told, 2 months possibly 3. I was ok with that.

The helm I ordered was for a new set up for (well about this time of year) now I got to start to rethink things and that’s going to cost me more $$. What I feel most like shit about is I referred some people to the sale and now feel responsible for them not getting there stuff.

I gave up on it Chief.

Some things we just have to chock up to experience.
I forgave my outstanding order.
I only wanted it, to see an artisans work anyway.
I wasn't going to use it.

A tip off could be a big prepay half off sale. Yes?
I am curious as to how many bought into this sale.

I know crappy things happen to humans.
I broke my left thumb making tools. [D'oh]

Best of luck to all of you.
However... I wash my hands of this and will not partake any further recourse.

So mote it be.

I guess I have lost more money on more frivolous things than this.

I hope my money helped Otto out for a little while.

Hi, it's me...

I'm going to explain how things have been for me these past few months and where I am right now.

For the past few months, I've been a bit of a basket case due to depression, anxiety, and panic attacks... mostly brought on from the constant threat of losing my home and starting my new part-time job as site manager at the trailer park I live in. During that time, my accomplishments in the shop were few.

Now, due to my site manager job, I don't have to worry about losing my home anymore... I'm still poor, but I have a secure place to live... and I've settled into that job a bit so it doesn't stress me like it used to.

I'm finally feeling generally better. I have no idea if I'll ever feel consistently "good" again... but I feel better.

I did finally make it back out to the workshop yesterday and will again today. I'm sending 2-3 helms this week and will push on from there. I'll try to update the waiting list within the next two weeks once I have a good handle on where I am again. All orders have been recorded. All orders will be honored.

I haven't taken any new orders in quite awhile, so I'm hoping to wrap up the old before my meager savings run out so I can get on with new work and making a bit of money again.

I know this doesn't really help the many of you who have been patiently waiting for armour. I'm just trying to let you know where I am and that I've not abandoned your orders... nor will I ever.

I'm thankful for the patience you've all kindly shown me and with a bit of luck, you'll start seeing your armour soon.

I don't expect to be selling at any events until at least March so that I can get all the past orders cleared first. So those of you looking for me at ValDay here in the north... I won't be selling this year.

Thanks for the sitrep, Otto. I'll admit that I was being rather pesty about emailing you back in November to ask questions about my helm, and I apologize. I didn't realize that your customer base was so large, and that you had so many orders to complete due to your 1/2 off sale.

I did have a small favor to ask of you - could you possibly give me a rough estimate on when my helm should be complete? I'm just looking for a little assurance here, nothing more.

I Have sent Email out about every few weeks and get the same thing back, takes about two weeks for even this.

((Thanks for your overwhelming patience with me.
I'll research your order tomorrow and try to give you a good estimate.))

I am the last one on the list he posted to be worked on.

Has any one got anything or got any type of time line???

Its not the mony, its the lack of communication on when I will be getting my stuff. This year next year some type of a plan wold be nice.

I sent the man an email on December 1st on the AA that is still siting in my out box unopened. He has NEVER responded to emails to his website.

He has still never given anyone a new Actual list, just excuses after excuses over his mundane life but no actual lists, who's on the list, time for deliver etc. Far as I can tell, he's buying time and fluffing excuses.

Something stinks.

Cam,

I actually did get my order on Dec 24th. The quality was what I was expecting from viewing his work online, so at least he didn't slapdash something together just to shut me up or meet his obligation. I hope he can give an update for all those still waiting and I hope everyone gets their stuff.

Hey everyone. This is Karen, Otto's ex-wife. I haven't been on here in a long time so I thought I would look through the discussion boards and see what's up. Oh boy, I didn't know how he was doing with his armouring. I live about 8 miles away from him and two of our kids (ages 20 and 29), I have Sarah with me (she's 12). If it will be any help, I can check with him on what's going on. I can tell him that if nothing else, I can post his phone number and that might get him on the ball. He's been doing okay as far as I can tell, at least whenever I talk to him. I'll check with him today when Sarah gets done at basketball practice and then post on here tonight and let you know what I find out.

I hope that helps some. If there's anything else, let me know and I'll see what I can do. :)

Karen,

If it looks like he's working, and slowly progressing through his orders, I would rather he not have to worry about his phone number getting online. If he is really struggled to get this work done, I would rather he not have some of my more impatient co-orderers calling every morning to see when their equipment will be ready. I'm not sure what relationship you two still have, but maybe there is something you could suggest to him that would help get out from under this pile of orders he's buried himself under?

Patiently awaiting,
Kevin

I agree with Caemgen, while I'm not happy with how things have gone so far I don't think Otto needs to be harassed by phone. Plus the time he has would be better spent armouring instead of dealing with people on the phone.

Posting the phone number is probably not the best way to handle things. If we could just get a complete list of projects so we could all see where we are, I know I would be happier.

Hey guys. I finally got to check with Scott (Otto) about the armouring. All he would tell me is that he's trying to do a little bit each day to get it done because he has a bunch of orders. I'll be seeing him today for a minute because Sarah is over there today. I'll tell him he needs to get on here and post something. I'm trying to help. :)

Karen,

Thanks for chiming in to all of us. I dunno how his time constraints are, but I would think that after a few years making armour, he should have it down pat on estimating on how much time it takes to produce a finished product. Just know, this is not a harassment post, but rather to say to Otto to not swallow the watermelon whole, but you eat it one bite at a time.

I only want an actual update. It seems from early December I was 1st on the "To Finish" list ( Helm order placed early July09).

Waiting for a reply.

I'm not posting to sound mean or anything, I really hope I don't sound it. I just had seen what has been going on and knowing I haven't seen any armour done at his trailer in a while, I thought I would try to help see what's up.
As far as him knowing how long it will take him to do and such, he knows. He just hasn't been doing a lot of it as far as I've seen. He hasn't been doing his armouring like he should be for a long time. He used to do every day, several hours a day. Now he seems to do a lot less and I don't even know if it's every day. But, now that he got his retirement money in, he's fine for money. He just needs to go out and really do a lot of armouring and get these orders done.
I do have good news for someone, I'll see if I can find out who....:) When I went to Scott's to pick Sarah up tonight, there was a finished helm sitting on his kitchen table. It's all done, Sarah even said it was all done. It's a (boy I hope I get this right) open-faced celtic helm with bars across the front. I hope I described it right. :) I'll see if I can find out whose it is.

Hope this helps.
