15th century latten candlestick

Post by chef de chambre »

Hi All,

I've been looking for a long time for a latten candlestick for my kit/office, such as those seen in images of 15th century Flemish masters such as Campin,

http://www.wga.hu/frames-e.html?/html/e ... nnun1.html
and van der Weyden, and as seen in extant examples from links on Karens site in collections such as here

and here

I was finally pleased to find one available through Medieval Design, and here are some images of it lit, and next to the traveling/folding iron example Clay Gilbert made me recently

It was extremely satisfying to finally fill that missing object in my list of impedimentia.

Fantastic! I've been looking for one for ages as well, going through the same ordeal, the UK company which doesn't answer and all. A pair of friends of mine have acquired an original last year, and ever since I've wanted one for the display.

I know where my next month's pocketmoney is going.. :P
Thanks!

Thanks Pfeiffer. I've ordered there before, and thanks to Chef I know of this new object in their collection. It's one of the major pieces missing on our table.
But thanks for pointing it out. :)
