Cool! I've never seen plates and bowls made of horn.

how do they do that . . . cut the horn and then soak it to soften it so it can be shaped?

Are you forming your own horn or having it done for you?
I ask as, in the future I will be in need of some horn fill plates for a potential helm.

Mostly I have someone do it for me - basically much cheaper.
Some projects I do myself (war/hunting horns for instance).
Also I'm working on the lantern pane project as well - which should give me more skills with the material.
