Made using the GAA pattern here on the archive. Then tweaked, modified and added substantialy to it. Lots more mid/upper back coverage.
Materials & Specs:
Plates are 0.070"-ish Aluminum of the legaly obtained road sign variety. Stripped of all decal by angle grinder.
Rivets are 3/16" shank aluminum Bezier head (that means fat and flat) from RJ Leahy.
Straps are 7-ish oz Chrome tanned.
Buckles are 5/8" on the sides, and 1" on the shoulders. nickel plated brass from Tandy
Shell (and this is where it gets wierd) is 2 layers of Vinyl/nauga hide, some variety of upholstery stuff, Glued back to back and hand stitched/hemmed with white artificial sinew. Color is what I would call a 30% warm grey, or if you prefer miniatures painting nomenclature it's a lovely 'Ghoul Flesh Grey'. I would guess that this is automotive grade vinyl, as I can't really see anyone using this color for home decor. It may also be marine grade, but I wouldn't bank on it.
Side closing, 2 piece design. The front and back come apart at the shoulders. Makes it somewhat more adjustable all the way around.
I can provide any measurements required. To be real honest, I've not measured the armor at all.
In the pictures I am wearing it over my Clan McCobain Tartan arming coat (quilted flannel shirt with polyfill lining to keep me warm) and a mail haubergeon.
I am 5'10" give or take, and 155-160 lbs.
My chest measures 37" over just a t-shirt, and 40.5" over the mail and flannel.
My waist (bendy spot over the pelvis, not where I wear my jeans) measures 32" over the t-shirt, and 37" over the mail and flannel.
I can wear the armor with just the t-shirt, and it's a fuzz loose. I can also squeeze into it with a second quilted flannel on. So it does adjust some. Could probably go a bit more either way.
Total weight according to Skippy the Senile Shop Scale is right about 6.5 lbs.
I smoke, and I smoked while I was making this, so a sensitive sniffer might pick up some cigarette smell in the shell.
I am selling this absolutely as is, with no waranty, guarantee, or shenanigans involved.
I will run this auction style.
Auction to end Monday January 25, at about 11:15 PM mountain time (when I get home from work).
Bidding in whole dollar amounts only.
Void where prohibited by law.
Don't sue me. it's not worth your time. I am destitute.
Bidder will need to pay an additional $20.00 for shipping and handling to the main 48 states. AK, HI and international will probably be more.
Starting bid is $125.00
A bid of $250.00 would be what I considered the maximum value of this piece to be , and will end the auction as a 'buy it now' option.
Neither the mail, the flannel, the garage, the shop clutter, nor the ugly guy are included in this sale. Just the Coat of Plates.
