Hallo Reislaufer

Hmmm, I may be wrong, but I don´t think the term "pigfaced Bascinet isn´t the apropriate designation for this one.

I think this one is later - more like at the transition from klapvisor/pigface to great bascinet, here with the bevor.

It´s a nice one and if I had the money right now it would be mine - but sadly I don´t have that kind of money for a helmet I don´t really need :?

A couple of questions about this helmet:

Does "$350 with shipping" mean "$350 including shipping" or "$350 plus shipping"?

Is there some sort of mechanism that keeps the visor locked down when it is down? If I bought this I'd wear it to fight in, and I don't want the visor to go up by accident.

Thanks!

I love that helm. Quick.. someone buy it so I don't. My wife would kill me.

Here's a circa 1420-1430 illumination from "Les Chroniques d'Angleterre" that shows these helms. I believe they can be found earlier as well.

It would go great with a mail standard.

I'm curious about the eye roll Merwe.

If it is in reference to Kalle's post, well I was thinking the exact same thing.

If it is in reference to the helmet itself, what is wrong with the helm? It seems a fine piece to me and a steal at that price.

I'm curious about the sudden deluge of Ukrainian grand bascinets.

How is the clapvisor held closed? I guess you could attach a leather strap and buckle arrangement?

Its a very nice transitional great bascinet.

Richard I believe there is a small amount of evidence for these at the very end of the 14thC.

Certainly bevors seem to start getting attached to bascinets in the last quater of the century along witht he apearance of more bullet shaped hounskull visors.
