For those of you unfamiliar with this Caidan tourney, it is the traditional start to the Caidan tourney season, and the largest list of the year - often over 100 entrants. It is also, as the name implies, open to unbelted fighters only.

It is always a grand time, and a great place to fight folks from the furthest corners of our kingdom.

its working again. i think it was just to many people trying to look at them at one time.

But I'm interested in the helm. I've never seen a helm that had the point so far back. Am I just ignorant or is this an uncommon design

That's Parzival von Hamburg wearing an Anshelm Arms back-point bascinet, which Master Luther describes as "Western European, 1375-1435". I don't know his source.

By the way, Parcival did very well at Unbelted...tied for 4th place, I think! Rock on!

Illa, here on the archive, was one of the final 3. The finalists each had one loss, and fought round-robin for the victory. I believe the field was 60 entrants this year.

I dunno, he claimed to have been at the shop when my helm was being made, and to have violated it. :shock:

Now I know what essence of Kazimir is about.

Yesterday was soo fun.

My only issue was the latter rounds were going so fast, there was not much announcing of the rounds. My Lady was completely unaware I was in the finals until after the tourney was over as she was off the field some.

However, the fighting was fantastic all around, and some damn nice kits hitting the field.

I have to say that I agree wholeheartedly with Ilia on the fun part. First time in a great while back in armor with enough gas to go more than a couple blows. Man it feels good to be fighting again.

Well done Ilia!

Just an FYI, if you find yourself in the finals in any tourney and you're not ready for whatever reason ask your opponent and the marshals to wait a minute. During the earlier rounds they might not be able to pause since they need to keep moving but in the finals they can wait a couple of minutes to make sure you and your lady are both ready.

Unbelted is one of my favorite tourneys of the year (right behind the College of the Voyagers May Day tourney and the Defender of the Children tourney). I wish I could have been there but mundane life has me by the throat for the next few months.

I agree with all that it was an awesome day, even though I didn't do as well as I had hoped.

Both of my official fights were tough struggles. I met Parzival in the first round. We had two double kills, then he finally beat me out. He was really on.

Had some great pickup fights the rest of the day and learned a lot.
