Tunics possibly for sale

Post by justkaren »

I was just wondering....if I make any tunics, would that be something anyone would be interested in buying? I thought I would ask ahead of time, don't want to make some and nobody interested. I'm not working so I have all sorts of time to make the stuff. Maybe I'll make some leather pouches if there's interest.

Depends on the price. Someone is always willing to buy something at the right price.

I'll have to double-check to see if I still have my website. If I remember right, cotton tunics were $10 or $15 each. If it's a more expensive material like linen then it would make the price a little more, but not much.

Just curious- for the surcoat pictured, to make something along those lines, what would you charge?

Hi, I'm here. My internet isn't working at the moment so I haven't been able to write back. I just finished writing to people that pm'd me. I can't get to a computer again until tomorrow. So.....what I can do is this....I'm still wanting to make the clothes (actually still have some that have already been made, a few tunics, a cloak that I have to sew the hood on). Since I can't get back on here until tomorrow, if anyone is interested, please call me at (269) 578-3244. If you get a girl answering, that's Sarah, just ask for Karen (my phone, but she claims it) :) Otherwise, I'll get back on here tomorrow. Hopefully, this will be some help.

Thanks,
Karen

I've asked you several times in PMs...I'm still trying to get an answer from you.

Can you give us a price list? There is no point in requests that you aren't interested in making (Such as an Italian Ren dress, fully embroidered, requested for $75. Obviously that wouldn't be worth your time.)

Simple linen tunic? Simple linen tabard? Do you do embroidery? What about adding trim?

Can you give us a clue what we should be looking at here?

Kaen,
Can you do embroidery, like lettering along the bottoms of tunics? Does anyone know someone who does work like this? I have seen (and drooled over) the high-end tunics that alot of fighers wear, and would really like to order one....

Not trying to be a downer, just want to share some info.

A couple years ago I bought a helm from Otto. I know, it's kind of a sore subject around here. They were still married at the time and while my helm was in progress Karen sent me an email update. We got to talking, and we came to an agreement for her to make me a gambeson. Now, I realize that a gambeson is a much more involved project than a tunic. That's exactly why I needed someone else to make me one :D

Anyway, we settled on a price, colors, got her all the necessary sizes. She geve me an expected completion date, we stayed in contact and no problems. For a while. Out of nowhere, no response to emails, no response to PMs here, nothing. Never heard another word. I just kind of dropped it. I hadn't given her any money yet. More than anything I was just bummed that I wasted time waiting on it when I could have gone a different direction.

Not saying don't buy from her, just relating my single experience with her. If this helps save someone some irritation and time, thats my goal here.

All I have to say to that is to make sure you use paypal. If the person doesn't respond to you, then take your money back. The end result will they will have your custom item and they want the money. When they find out you took your money back then they will have to contact you.

Sorry about the delay in writing back on here. I'll double-check my pm's but I had went through and wrote back to everyone. I'll make sure I didn't miss someone. I thought I had answered all of the posts on here but apparently I missed some. I'm really sorry, I go to Scott's to get Sarah and so when I get on his computer, I hurry through so I can get out of there. My home phone is supposed to be turned on by tonight so then I can get internet started back up at home.

I was making gambesons a couple of years or so ago. Between working full-time, doing sewing, normal everyday stuff, and also dealing with Scott, it just got to be too much. I tried to contact everyone but I guess I missed someone. For that I apologize. Life is much better now, I only have me and Sarah to take care of.

I can do surcoats okay. Let me know what size and stuff and we can get this worked out.

As far as embroidery, I don't have a machine for it. I wish I did but I don't. Sorry, I don't even know anybody that does have one.

I posted my website address since I found out it's still up. It's at http://kmvast.tripod.com

I hope I've addressed everyone's questions. I just went back through the posts and don't think I've missed anyone.

Thanks,
Karen
