Here at the ranch, we had our first litter of baby rabbits last night, we do raise them for meat and are just starting out, and I have been discussing with the boss the idea of tanning the hides and offering them for sale. They are "American" breed rabbits, and the litter of 9 from last night were 2 white, 2 black and 5 "blue", and the other female is expecting. The boss is getting 5 more on Thursday to start breeding, and we set up one of the outbuildings to house up to 32. Just wondered what the interest/demand would be.
The boss brought back 6 red waddle piglets Saturday, they are just too cute.
Anyone here use rabbit pelts?

Price would be the deciding factor for me. If comparable to Tandy's Pricing, then I'd probably just end up going with them when I can get to a store. low enough to make up for the shipping costs and unknown of color choice and quality, then I'd probably look into them.
honestly, nothing on my curent list is in need of fur, but for the right price, a fur lined cloak would probably be bumped up higher on the to do list.

I will need to see on prices, from what I have seen so far at on line selling venues is $6.50-10 per. I will have to see if I can afford to bring that price in, if not, I do have a sewing area in my trailer and I may start doing cloaks.
