Viking/ dark ages clothing

Hello there

Im looking to get a soft kit of either viking or angelo saxon together.
I want to spend very lil. But may just give my self a present and buy the whole nine yards at Historic enterprises.
But I can sew, Is there a place out there that sells just patterns or somewhere I could look at a link and guide me.
I want a tunic pants and winningas.

Oh btw Im a tall skinny lad. 6 foor and a 32 inch waist and I weigh 130 pounds

Tunic and pants can be purcased from Adric13 here on the archive. They may be a bit big on you, but it is linen and is less money than Historic Enterprises. He is running a sale right now, so it is a good time to buy. He is good people.

The winningas from HE is a great deal and I would recommend them. I have 3 sets of them myself.

If you want to make it yourself, likely the best place to buy the fabric is fabric-store.com. The 5.3oz linen is what you will probably want.

You should be able to find a lot of patterns online, but reconstructinghistory.com has accurate patterns. They may break your budget, though.

This website is a good overview for basic Viking / Saxon tunic construction: http://www.cs.vassar.edu/~capriest/viktunic.html . If you're going for a late Anglo-Saxon look, you will want to look into the Kragelund Tunic's style of sleeves (google it for info), which give the tight forearms you see in sources like the Junius Manuscript. I've never made a tunic from a pattern, because they're all just rectangles and triangles and I find it easiest to simply measure, cut, and sew.

http://www.wood-n-woven.com/ has wonderful hand-woven winingas for reasonable prices. Short of that, winingas are very easy to make if you have a sewing machine that can blanket stitch the edges (or better, a serger).

I am upgrading all of my winningas to her stuff, but since he said he was on a budget, Historic Enterprises at $20 seemed a better recommendation than Laina's stuff at $50-$70.
