The shield is also his elevation scroll; the words are written in runes on the back.
The shield was completely hand made by my squire brother Ld. Aedon.
Sir Maddach was elevated at GW 09, but this is the first clear photo I've come across of his accoutrement.

Sweet Jesus. When the picture loaded I honestly gasped involuntarily.
What IS it? Is it truly all brass? Or perhaps an aluminum shield with added repouse work, all made to look like brass?
Whatever it is, it's GORGEOUS.
I take it the new knight is from Trimaris?

Sir Maddach is Meridian.
The sheet bronze in backed by a thin wooden slat-shield base.

It's in the style of the La Tène-style Battersea Shield, of which the 'Net knoweth much, even if half of what it knoweth is about a record album by that name. Google is full of pictures. Wiki says this oblong would have been overlaid upon a round shield -- sounds like becoming a vertical stripe down its center.

I know you swiped that from my Facebook page, but I can't remember who took it. I think it was Baron David L'Ymagour, but not positive.
BTW, Aedon is sending a collection of his coronets to KA&S this weekend (mine and Seth's included). Should be amazing to see a collection all together.

WOW, will the shield be at KA&S? I look forward to seeing the coronet collection too.

Yar-- the shield is brass/bronze over a wooden slat base. How awesome is that? Maybe the runes on the back are actually Celtic line writing now that I think about it. There are more pics of it floating around the net if I can locate them.
My squire brother can be a bit shy about sharing his work. He is a truly gifted metalworker, and I want to spread his wordfame.
The trefoil/triskel pattern is pretty much considered Sir Maddach's sigil here in Meridies.

The runes on the shield are Ogham. Thanks for posting the pic Halfdan; I try to collect these and pass them along to Sir Madoc
The shield was inspired by the one he fights with:
Here is another shot of the shield as it was being presented at his elevation:
He was fairly awestruck by it, to say the least!
ETA** I found another couple of shots:
The set up in the longhall at Sir Madoc's Vigil
a closer shot of the shield

The pictures don't do it justice and the back is also very impressive.
Everything he received at his elevation was impressive. You can see part of his belt in the original pic.
Alcy is correct. If you didn't know anything about this man you would see the love and respect people have for him with the regalia he was given.
Awesome stuff.
