Those of you who have patterns already up on the Archive, are the names up there the ones you want?

I'd love to get them up! I'm still in the "overhaul" stage for my own sanity, so I'd appreciate it if you could hold off just a bit.

That being said, what I'd ideally like is a brief description (including any period sources if applicable), patterns, images from the front, side, top and at an angle if possible. If it's something that needs more images or doesn't need as many, I'm easy to please.

And if there's any notes regarding construction, those as well.

Plus a web site (I see your link at the bottom there), name, contact information if you'd like, and any brief information you'd like to publicly share.

Again, this is for you to prepare, as I'm looking at spending almost the entire remainder of the day on this index page alone. I'd love to have a massive patterns page, but not all at once.

Each pattern page, while fairly stock, does require a lot of hand fitting, so . . .

I look forward to seeing them, however!

Hurrah for the Pattern-page attention. While I get it that I need to create my own patterns, seeing how others have created their patterns gives me a pattern for my pattern.

Micheal S. Lacy (Sir Michael de Lacy) published these in "The Development the Coat of Plates" - Compleat Anachronist #69. The illustrations are credited to himself and Anthony J. Bryant, the series editor.

First image looks like the pattern inspired by the St. Maurice statue at its right, both printed in the notes to Period Patterns #102. I can't prove this as my copy grew legs and walked off years ago. "Period Patterns #102 - More Medieval Military Garments" from the Medieval Miscellanea pattern series.

I don't recognize the following photos and "coatplts.jpg." The next three images are from "A Fourteenth Century Coat of Plates" Ld Brian Drita an Con, 1978 (Brian Duggan) originally published in Tournaments Illuminated #48. The last might be from the same article but my copy is missing that page.

Well, I can always see if Anthony can back this.

I'm afraid I can't pull together a pattern page from references I don't have, and I'd need to get permission from the original author.

One thing of note (other than I have more patterns to donate/share)....
In my "Various patterns are 2 helms, gauntlets, Lamae (and Lacing notes), and the "Infamous" Magicolor.jpg full harness (in scale) poster.

If you want to split those up so each is listed in its own (appropriate) section that would be fine by me.

Those were all lumped together during my "My Armoury crashed but its not MY fault." period....
Your call as someone DOING the needed attention to the pattern section...

My Norman helm is still valid.
If I was to make a change... it would be to adjust the band size to fit ones head.
The size given was my head size.

I also could offer some sabaton patterns if any one is interested.

Okami: I'll separate them out. It's probably more helpful to users that way, and that's supposedly my job.

For a really big head, some material could be added to the sides of the panels. :wink:

As these panels are sandwiched with an internal strip.

That's a factor of scanner, printer, and software. If you change any one of the three there's no real way to keep it constant.

I mean, so do I and all, but there's always some +/-

Unless you're talking about 2:1 and similar patterns, in which case I agree 100%

PDF and vector images do great work, but it all comes down to image reproduction and printing. I'll look into it.

The only way to make sure that you are getting 1:1 is to put a scale in the picture with each pattern. You then print the pattern out (or use your software ruler) and adjust the print size until the scale is printing out to whatever it is supposed to be. I usually scan a ruler in with the patterns so that I have a scale that everyone can figure out. Everyone's computer/software/printer will be a little bit different so the only way to get it perfect is to scan in something that everyone agrees on and understands (like a ruler with inches on the top and mm on the bottom.)

Its not so much a pattern as it is a Pattern Generator. It is not my work AT ALL, I just use it. If you click the authentic radio button at the bottom it will come out as a period t-tunic. Linking it might be useful to a lot of people, especially complete sewing amateurs like me.
