brewer's pitch? ( other sources? )

I have gotten brewer's pitch from Jas Townsen in the past.

GREAT customer service

REALLY quick shipping.....

the price went up $2.00 a pound so I thought
I'd shop around just to see what is out there....

Are they really the only source?

I've found a few sources for stuff made from brewer's
pitch but not the stuff you melt down your self to seal
leather bottles and jacks....

and LOTS of pages with stuff about the Brewers baseball team
and their pitching...... lol

Pretty sure that's the dark amber to black stuff. I'd like to examine the MSDS to see if its food grade.

I would consider splitting a bag of it with you if you are interested in a volume purchase. I like the JAS Townsend fat pine pitch but it is a bit sticky for some uses.

I have some of the northwest pitch. It is too stiff for bottles and has a piney odor that would probably be objectionable in drinks. Works great for its intended use on repousse though.

used as a replacement for brewer's pitch...?

That would be envriotex or Smooth-sil 940.
The envirotex is not rated for use in food containers.
The smooth-sil 940 is a bit more expencive but its a silicon compund rated for cholate and candy molds.

Michael de Buslingthorpe may have a few other options.
